driving from MI, where to stay south of Atlanta?

We will be driving to WDW from Mi in February, and plan on going a few hours beyond the half way point before stopping for the night. I figure this would take us somewhere an hour or so south of Atlanta? Does anyone have a good stopping place in this area very close to I75? It doesn't exactly have to be at this point, we haven't done this drive before so I'm not sure that I am being very accurate. If anyone has any suggestion at all, Iwould love to hear your opinion! Thanks so much!

We're debating still about how to get to WDW, but this site was helpful as it gives directions, hourly countdowns, restaurants, hotels, rest stops, gas stations and prices, etc. Check it out and see if it gives any helpful info: www.freetrip.com Also, if you belong to AAA I think they will help you map out a trip.

We've made the drive several times-We've left from "up north", Tawas City, and Clinton Twp-Our vote for a stopping place along I-75 is Dalton,GA. Dalton is approximately one hour north of Atlanta, but it's very convenient. We always stay at the Hampton Inn (get a reservation, they fill up almost always) with a Cracker Barrell in the parking lot, the outlet mall across the street, and gas stations on the service road to the HI. Never been disappointed here. T+C

That's the Quality, Sleep, Clarion, etc.

They have several properties along I-75, in towns such as Macon, Tifton, Perry, Valdosta.

Many of the major chain hotels are located along the I-75 Macon bypass, a little more than an hour south of Atlanta. Just a litle further on is the smaller town of Perry, Georgia, which might be even more convenient.
