We have never done this drive, but point to point direct this drive seems to take about a day. Are there many places worth seeing along or near this route, and if so where is the best place to stay?
Thanks

We only find the drive from Atlanta to WDW to be in the neighborhood of 7-8 hours and depending on how early we leave and what side of Atlanta we are on we have done it in under 7.

I like to visit on occasion some of the sites in Atlanta but past that I am ready to get to Disney. I suppose if it was my first time doing that drive I would stop at the Florida Welcome Center (although its not really necessary but a good photo op).

I agree with traveliz, it is only 7-8 hours from ATL to WDW. We usually leave at about 6:30am and are in the parks by the late afternoon.

By the way, once you are past ATL there is little drama. We find it to be a very pleasant drive.

I agree it doesn't take a whole day. Just about 7 hours. If you make it through Atlanta when it's NOT rush hour in the morning or evening then you will have a very nice and easy drive.

I agree that if you make it past Atlanta with no problems you should make it to WDW in about 7 or 8 hours, because it's a straight drive down Interstate 75 and then on the Florida Turnpike.

Unfortunately, there isn't much to see or do on the way, IMO. If you find that you absolutely must stay overnight on the way, try to stay in either Gainesville or Ocala. That will make your morning drive as short as 90 minutes (from Ocala).

The only time it has ever taken us more than 8 hours is when there was an accident or construction along the way. Have a map or GPS handy in this case, because US 41 is never far away as an alternate.

We figure 7 hours from the exit with the Penney's outlet. That is exactly 1/2 way from home to Disney for us.

I'd stop by Gainesville (Titletown, USA) and take a few minutes to see the SWAMP ;)

(not really, but just want to brag on the Gators for a minute).

Being more serious, High Falls just south of Atlanta, GA is really pretty (Exit 198 in Georgia). Its not much of a falls, but it does feel like you are in a much more secluded place than you really are. I'd stop there only if you werent in a rush to get to Orlando, otherwise, just bypass it.
