Looking for a place that's nice, clean, and safe. Not looking for a budget/Motel 6 kind of place. Any suggestions? Looking into northern North Carolina or Southern Virginia, thanks! ETA, nevermind, we're taking the Auto Train but thanks for the replies

I typically stop in Rocky Mount, NC. There are lots of great options there. My favorite in the area has been the Tru by Hilton.

We have had good luck in Fayetteville. Lots of food, fuel and lodging options.

We drive from CT and usually shoot for Fayetteville, Santee, or when we are really ambitious, Brunswick, GA. Our go-to along I-95 is usually a Holiday Inn Express.
