hello! we can drive down from DC in one long, exhausting day, but someone suggested
leaving a day earlier, stopping a few hours short for the night, and arriving fresh with time
to spend on our first day instead of arriving really late, worn out and burned out and
dreading getting up early. any comments? looking at the map, would getting to the
south side of Jacksonville be a good place? suggestions for when, where, and which
motel are most welcome. thanks!

When we drove last Thanksgiving, we stopped in Ocala, and stayed at Howard Johnson's, right off the highway. It was inexpensive, CLEAN, new, and did I mention clean? We were going to Disney's Vero Beach resort, and it took approx 4 hours, so to Orlando, it would only be two hours.

Have fun
