This is probably directed more towards Canadians who find an area like Halifax large enough to drive in. How do you find driving around the Orlando area? We are using Magical Express from the airport to Disney, but are getting a car the last 3 days of our trip and driving back to Orlando International Airport from the Comfort Inn Lake Buena Vista very early on our last day(5:00AM). How hard will it be getting around from the hotel to Universal and then from the hotel to the airport?

We have never had a problem driving there once you are on that highway ( forget the name ) but its the main one there are signs that cleary state exits ect. We find it very easy driving there

I found it very easy to drive around, and quite enjoy it. You have to remember that pretty much everyone else driving around the same area is a tourist as well. I just pick a lane and stick to it and take your time. Signage is great and at 5AM you'll have no problems as all the highways are nicely lit. Plan your route before you leave. Tonnes of maps available at any hotel you're staying at. Good luck and take a deep breath! :)

We have rented a car every trip and the only place we actually get lost is driving on Disney property. We agree with the OP, if you've never driven in Orlando before, plan your route and find out where you are going before you leave. Be aware that a lot of the freeways are toll roads in Florida, therefore it's always a good thing to keep some change at hand, especially for the route you will probably be taking to the airport.

I looked on Mapquest and it seems to have good directions from the hotel to the airport.....I don't mind getting lost, as long as its not the morning of my flight back home...lol. It's only about 8 miles so we should be ok.

We have driven quite a bit (we drove down last August from Cape Breton) and it is really easy to get around. Things move a bit fast for us but you get used to it quite quickly. Like a previous poster said, many of the drivers are tourists so directions are very good. Get a good map and you won't have any trouble!:goodvibes
