Sorry...This Is A Vent!!

I was working Drive Thru again, taking orders and money. I had at least 40 cars come though where they were talking on their cell phones. This didnt bother me before, but people are just being stupid now.

They are more concerned about their little conversations than with ordering their food, or paying attention. One person, who I could hear on their phone, had to be told "You can move ahead anytime now" becasue they were just staying at the speaker when they could have moved up 3 spots to my window.

The biggest thing that bothers me is when I am asking a person questions and trying to get information at the end of the order, to make their life easier at the second window, and they are not paying attention, but clearly talking again.

The people on their cells are normally the ones who come back and complain about their order not being right after I have double checked it. This is becasue they are too busy lisiting to their phone and not listing to what I am saying.

I serioulsy am tempted sometimes to just tell them to shut their phone off. I dont see how anything can be that important that they must not put someone on hold for a minuite. If it is, then get out of my drive thru. I don't want to sound bitter, but it is very annoying to be asked "could you wait a minuite while I finish this call" when I am trying to get your order...and I am being timed. It doenst bother me when they are looking at the menu, but to have a phone call in progress....it just annoys the heck out of me...and everyone else who works drive thru.

Ok...vent over

That would be annoying! I would never do that to you - I promise!

Cell phones are quite possibly the greatest convenience ever invented, but also the biggest neusance!

I work a P.O. window and know exactly what you mean! Excuse me, when you are in my line, you are there to conduct postal business, not cell phone business. Sheesh! Phone calls CAN wait, other customers shouldn't have to. Oh well....rant over.:)

I cannot imagine pulling into a drive-through while I'm talking on my cell phone. People really do that?! What jerks!! I don't blame you for being upset with them. I'm a waitress and a couple of times I've had people come in and sit down at a table, yet continue talking on their cell phone. I refuse to go over to their table until they finish their call. One guy was really rude, he talked for several minutes and I had made eye contact with him so he knew that I knew he was there, but I wouldn't go over until he was done. The second he clicked off he said, loudly, "can I get some service over here?" I would've liked throwing his water glass at him at that point. I just walked over and told him I had been waiting for him to finish his important call, and gave him the biggest, fakest smile I could muster up! :teeth:
I think cell phones are great, but you can take it a bit too far with them if you're not careful.

I love the ones that walk in with headphones in their ears and that small microphone hanging on their mouths, I worked at a convenience store and everytime they would come in ( specially in the winter with hats and scarves on ) , you couldn't see the darn things, they would walk in talking and how many times I thought they were talking to me, and then they would signal me to wait with their hands. I waited on the person behind them , and then they would get annoyed because I was cutting them off with someone else. If you are not ready for the transaction because you are too busy talking, then step aside , finish your business and then come back to the line. I love my cell phone and it gives me an incredible peace of mind just to think in an emergency I can use it, but you will never see me stuck to the darn thing with headphones on me when I'm out and about.

We had a girl at work that would walk around with the ear piece and mike device. She would walk past you talking, and if you didn't see the thing dangling you would assume she was talking to you and start to answer her at which point she would wave you off or give you an "I'm not talking to you" glare. Thankfully she is no longer with us. I know I wasn't the only one who wanted to say something rude to her.

I just wonder what everyone did before they were invented.

I recently went with a friend to get her drivers' license renewed at the government center here in downtown Minneapolis. They have big signs all along the counters indicating no cell phones can be in use while at the desk! I imagine we'll be seeing more and more of those signs showing up! And I, for one, can't wait!

I also work at a drive-thru window and have to put up with that.
Sometimes I talk really LOUD. would you like any mayo, mustard, or ketchup???
I've even had then to tell me to wait while they wrote down directions.
I had one lady two days ago talk for about 3 minutes to finish her conversation, with the window rolled up(ignoring us the whole time) Then she got out of her car and walked aroud to get her money out of her trunk!!!!!
She wasnt even prepared to come thru and pay!!!!
