Following along from Houston! I'm enjoying your reviews! I need to make it a point to go to both Chef Mickey's and Cali Grill. I also have a question about the drive, My in laws will be driving from Houston to Orlando in June, (DH and I will be flying) do you happen to remember how much tolls were on the turnpike?

From what I remember - one was 75 cents, one was $1.50 and one was $3.50. Bring about 4 ones and 8 quarters and they should be good.

This was delicious and very enjoyable. Nice and hot.

I will also like to point out that – on this day – I ate scallops and shrimp. And I was fine. Just fine. I do have a lobster allergy, but I’m fine with shrimp. My doctor said it had something to do with the iodine content in the shell of the shellfish. So I avoid lobster and crab. Put that info away for later. It will come into play.

This was good – the bun was a little dry – but it had a ton of flavor. Good flavor. I don’t remember crispy onions being present at all.

We cried uncle at this point and couldn’t eat any more. Plus, we had a Ressie at Whispering Canyon later that evening.

Next, we moved on to Germany.

DH got another beer. He really loved the Oktoberfest in Germany.

DH and I both have deep genealogical roots in Germany and we had a quite nice conversation with a lady there we were talking to about genealogy. I just love that kind of thing.

Loving the reviews so far. But I have a stupid question. I was there in February for the Festival of the Arts and they gave away a magnet for the hunt. Did you get a pin with the egg hunt?
 
Love your review of F&G Festival booths. We are planning to do that on our first couple of days. Also we enjoyed egg hunt last year, so it's on DS 13's priority list to do it again this year! Love running around World Showcase, trying to look for the egg!!!
 
Love the F&G shirts you got! I think I'm going to get the Minnie flower one when we go in May, if they're still available! Can't wait to try that frozen pink drink!!!

We got an egg. I think it was Stitch one. DD picked it out. I didn't care about the prize really, I just wanted to do the egg hunt. It was fun!!

I really love the egg hunt. It sort of forces you to go deep into each country and do some exploring. I really enjoyed it!!

The frozen pink drink is my absolute FAVORITE. I wish I had one right now!!!

Hi Susan! I saw you stayed at BLT and was curious as to your dining adventures! As many times as I've stayed BLT we've never, ever, nope not ever tried Chef Mickeys. It may be the napkin waving thing but the trade off is a character breakfast right there at the hoteland watching the monorail swoosh through.

I love shrimp and grits and the F&G Festival version looked pretty delish! Dun dun dun dun... a little intrigue is in store for later. :magnify:

Hey Brenda!!

The napkin waving didn't bother me - but we only saw them do it once and I was up at the buffet getting food. By the time I got back napkins were down. But we were sort of in dine and dash mode (not the kind where you don't pay because we paid). But we just wanted food and then to get to Magic Kingdom to start enjoying ourselves.

Yes ------- foreshadowing. Did you read what happened on Facebook. We still don't know for sure what it was. I'll get to story here though. It was quite the adventure.

PS - Yeah - no kidding. How did I get to be the shortest one around here again?? DS graduates this year and will be 18 this year. His plans for the future change monthly, but I just hope he stays close by. I still have DD for 3-4 more years and she seems more serious about college.
 
Day 3 – Part Three

After a long day at Epcot. With 19,238 steps and 8 miles on my fitbit -we were beat. Once we got back to Bay Lake, the big kids had already eaten quick service and said they were heading back out again. So DH, DD and I rested a while. And then we caught the boat over to Wilderness Lodge.

I just love this resort. We have stayed here before, but I would love to do it again!! It suited our mood because that night the temps really dropped and barely made it into the 60’s the next 3 days. I was loving it!!

We got a buzzer and waited for our name to be called.

We were seated in the back where it was a little quieter and we were happy with that. Our waiter was awesome and played along a little with the shenanigans, but not too much which was fine. There was a large part next to us that he was really entertaining and that was fun to watch.

DD got a milkshake as her drink. These endless milkshakes are delicious, but I warned DD – she would be full by the time the food came.



Since DD is the pickiest person alive, I asked him if he could get her some macaroni and some onion rings for her meal. He said he could make that happen and he did!!

Of course she was full from the milkshake and ended up taking half the mac and cheese back to the room.

DH and I decided to get

First we got the cornbread.




YUM. Warm, homestyle goodness right here. I had to hold myself back from eating too much.

Then the salad came




This was OK. It had too much dressing for me. I’m a dressing on the side kind of girl. I am a person who actually enjoys the taste and fresh crunch of fresh veggies. I don’t like my salad swimming in dressing. Otherwise, it was a decent salad.

Then came this huge plate of deliciousness.




So much YUM. Since we had been pigging out all day, we weren’t super hungry so we didn’t need a second helping of anything. But all of this was good and we really enjoyed it. DH especially. He just loves this kind of food.
