First time visiting from East Coast. In LA a few days then off to DL. Way it worked is that we are doing the drive on Memorial Day. Map blast seems to say 5 is best route and would take about 1 hour in traffic. Does this sound right? We are not in a rush at all that day but just wanted to know if that is the best and what to be prepared for!

Oh, also any tips on trip from GC to SNA airport would be appreciated as well.

Thanks so much.

Yup, that is the easiest way. There is a lot of construction on the 5 (they are expanding it from 3 lanes to 5-6 lanes each direction), so be prepared for slow-downs. Make sure to get in the carpool lane once it opens up in Orange County; there is a separate flyover ramp for the exit towards Disney. Make a left off the freeway and there are plenty of signs leading to the resorts (make sure not to go into the theme parks lanes as that will take you only into the structure).

Where exactly in LA are you talking about? What time of day will you be traveling? Makes a huge difference...

Downtown LA. Leaving anytime after noon on Memorial Day (Monday).

The 5 is probably the easiest, but just check google maps when you get on the road and it will show you the best way at that time.

At that time, probably an hour... but, it could be more or less.. you may get lucky and it will only be 30 minutes, but accidents happen and the 5 is on permanent construction it seems, etc, and it could be 2 hours! Try google maps for the best route when you head over! Have fun!

I-5 is the most direct route...but that means nothing in LA traffic.

Goggle Maps app will route you the quickest on major roads taking into account real time traffic conditions.

Waze app will get you to the parks the fastest way even if it means surface streets.

Both free...I love Waze and one would be a fool not to use one of those two apps any time driving in SoCal!
