What is the refill program all about?

They sell the refillable mugs at all the restaurants and even the food booths. They even have one that costs around $5. You buy the cup and get a free drink with purchase. Then refills are only $1.25 plus tax (for a total of $1.34) for as long as you keep your cup. The refill deals are good at both parks and at Citywalk (although the price varies at Citywalk.) The cups are big and hold more than a large drink so it is a good deal. You can also get free icewater in the cups. I've been using my MIB cup nearly a year.

So you mean I can "legally" haul in an old bottle with the giant Cat in the Hat on it or Jurassic Park Dino and get my refills? Have they changed them in the last year or so? You know, on the Disney Resorts board this type of talk would get you banished forever.

Of course you can bring you old cup even if they have changed, which I doubt they have. Unlike Disney, the refills are good for how long you have the cup.

The water does not taste like the Disney water. Orlando has a different water treatment plant. Disney uses Reedy Creek and Universal uses Orange County utilities. The water tastes fine at Universal.

They are refillable. Just bring 'em to the park. I bring mine several times a week. Trust me. That poor cup has been left on the MIB ride so many times that I can't count but I have my name written on it so the ride operators just save it for me. One time Slacking even found it on a MIB car and recognized it as mine!

I had one MIB cup for a year and finally lost it for good. I bought another one just like it and have had it nearly a year now and use it several times a week at the parks. It is old and has been through the dishwasher so many times that the MIB symbols are peeling off and like I mentioned before I have my last name written in big letters with permanent marker.

No problem at all getting it refilled.

I saw someone carrying one around from when T2:3D first opened. This was last year, btw. She said a lot of people were surprised to see the T2 cup because it's so old. She also had no problems with the refills.

Where can we purchase the $5 cup in the park? Is it available at most counter service?

They are available at almost every restaurant, counter service, and snack booths in the park. You can also purchase them at almost all the stores. If you get it at a store, they won't be able to fill it up with a drink but you will be given a card for a free drink, since your first drink is free with the cups. you'll take the cup and card to any food service in the park and get it filled.

Just be aware that there are two different prices: the Sponge Bob cup costs around $10 but many of the others like the MIB cup cost only $5.

Yeah, I remember getting in the MIB car and seeing a bright green MIB cup. I knew whose it was right as soon as I saw it (The name on it helped too!). Just glad I could help Bev, lol.

But yeah, the souveneir cups can be found EVERYWHERE in the parks.

Can you get an AP discount on a cup?

Yes, you can get an AP discount if you buy your cup at one of the stores or counter service. You just can't get a discount at any of the food booths.

You also can get a discount on refills with the AP. Refills cost $1.34 (total cost including tax) at the food booths but only $1.13 at the restuarants where you can use your AP discount.

Oh good deal! I have the big cups, lets see, A sponge bob and a marvel super hero cup but they are huge and did cost $10. I would rather get a few of the $5.00 ones than bring my cups back. Hmmm maybe it is worth it to bring at least one with me. Make the kids carry it in their backpacks!
