Hi everyone

My name is Sarah and i am new here so please be patient with me!

My hubby and i are taking our 3 boys to DLP in 2 weeks time. We are staying half board at the Hotel Santa Fe. I hoped you'd be able to give us an idea of how much we need to take with us for our 3night/4day trip.

It would be fab if you could give me an idea how much a pint of lager costs roughly and soft drinks as well as snacks. We want to make sure we take plenty so we don't end up skrimping.

Any other tips you have would be greatly appreicated too

Thanking you in advance

Sarah

Hello and Welcome..

I havent stayed half board but im sure someone will be along soon to answer your questions :)

To save on money for drinks you can always pop into the Esso garage which is next door to the Santa Fe, to buy drinks from there was a lot cheaper then buying drinks in the park etc.

:)

Hi AND WELCOME :wave2:

We are going to DLP in November and i used the food guide to browse the menus in some resturants to listed a few prices of what we might eat each day and that gave me a rough idea of how much spending money we may need for food and drink....

Heres the Link, hope its helpful ;)

Hi. We were at DLRP at the start of this month on our 1st trip. We have 2 children and stayed for 4 days 3nights and did half board plus. We took £550 with us and that included £100 each of the childrens.

We came home with a fair amount of the money and did not feel we had scrimped on anything. We breakfasted well at the hotel and found that a lunch of soup and chips did us fine. We often had a hotdog and hot choc mid afternoon, watching the parade, and then used our vouchers for a great meal in the evening. We topped up on the final night with a character meal at Cafe Mickey.

You really can spend as much or as little as you want. Our children used their money for clothes, toys and presents for friends and brought some home too.

We did not find the half board option at all restrictive and in some places - Billy Bobs to name one - the meal is the same with or without vouchers.

Have a great time.:thumbsup2

Hi pinkfairy and welcome to DIS

A pint of lager, wait for it ------------------------------------------- around 6 euros a 33cl bottle, I'll let you do the maths, probably best not to tell your DH, mine still hasn't recovered from the shock. :rotfl:

Have a lovely trip :goodvibes

We were a bit shocked at the price of a pint. Think it worked out at £5.15 as the rate is so bad at the mo!!! ....But fortunately we found the happy hour at king ludwigs between 5.30 and 7pm when all sized beers were bogof!(including a hefty 1 litre glass)This was much appreciated as we had to walk past here each night back to the hotel!!:yay:

sorry - forgot to mention that soft drinks were about 3.50 euros. If you are doing the half board, it includes a soft drink with your meal (and it was a large soft drink). Got carried away with the beer thing!!

A Happy Hour at King Ludwigs ?
Surprised my DH missed that one. Did you eat there as well or can you just use the bar ?

I don't think you have to have a meal, the happy hour thing has been going a while as I noticed it on my last trip but never eaten/drunk there.

When we went last October dh bought some cans of lager from the shop in the Hotel New York. I can't remember how much they cost but I know it was cheaper than from the bar. Not quite the same atmosphere but a lot cheaper so this kept dh happy.

Thanks everyone, i'd heard that was about the price but just thought i'd check to save dh having heart failure when he went to the bar. Thanks for the tip re king ludwigs i will definately remember that one!

You can just have the drinks, although the catch to that is that the bar only area is outside. However, they do have several powerful patio heater things and it's great for people watching!!!Was really busy out there when we went the 2nd week in feb!!

I didn't realise that you could just sit outside, we've sat at the Sports Bar and outside Billy Bob's.
Happy Hour could be the extra little incentive I can use on DH, he's still at the "I'll come if you want me to" stage. Infuriating!!!

Is there bottled water available and what kind? How much is the cost?
