Drinking water

I gave up soda for lent, and since then, I've been drinking A LOT of water! I keep a 28 ounce sport bottle on my desk at work, and just fill it from the water cooler. I find myself drinking about 70 ounces a day or so.

I used to drink a jumbo fountain soda from Wawa every day, and now it grosses me out to think how much sugar and empty calories I consumed! Yuck!! Giving up the soda wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, so now I'm trying to make it a lifetime commitment, and not just for lent.

Oh, its not just water. I could go all day with out drinking ANYTHING.

Anyway, what is your tip for getting enough water for the day?

I just keep thinking to myself, I am not getting any younger and if you are dehydrated it shows on your face in the forms of lines and skin looks dull etc.. I need all the help I can get lol, so DRINK UP !!! Yup I drink LOTS of water, because I am vain!!

Get you a cup with a built in straw.

You drink more when you drink from a straw, there was a study but I can tell you it works with me. I keep my bottle with straw next to me all day and anytime I look at it I drink. There is something about drawing in on the straw that you drink more than just sipping from a cup or chugging from a water bottle. With me it's that unscrewing the bottle and tipping my head back took my eyes away from what I was doing, but if I can just pick it up and drink while still reading I tend to do it more often.

I noticed this last week at Cracker Barrel. I had the Orange Cream soda straight from the bottle last week instead of the frosted mug with the straw and it took me till well past the time my meal was finished to finish the soda. Not that I'm complaining because I absolutely :lovestruc that soda. But with the mug and straw i always finished it b4 my meal was done. And then I always suffered cause I have a rule about soda and the bottle would be done. Now I won't get the mug anymore.

As to the water OP I now drink more water than anything else. It took me months to train myself to do it as I used to live on soda, milk and iced teas. I had jobs that enabled me in that respect. I had to start off with bottled water cause it tasted better to me and then finally moved to tap water with a filter. Now I drink from our fridge tap. If my job at Target would let me have a bottle of water with me all day I would drink even more than i do now. I fill up a sport bottle with a straw and that's what I drink on my breaks. So 24oz gone during the day at work. When I'm done I refill the bottle from the soda fountain and have anywhere from 12-another 24 while waiting for DH to get done and meet me. And then I come home and fill my CSR mug with water for use b4 and during my workouts. Its hard for me to get to 64oz during the winter but in summer I easily go past that. Add some milk in at supper and thats it.

I used to work at Wawa. Can you say all the free soda you want? SO I know what you mean. The good news is you still have plenty of time left in Lent so by the end it should be a major habit cause Lent is about 40 days long give or take depending on the moon cycles. :thumbsup2
