We are first time cruisers and thought of a few questions.
1. Can we take food from the buffet back to our room? Like if my husband goes to get a bunch of food for us to eat while I stay in the room with the kids.
2. Where can the drink of the day be bought? In the dining room at dinner?

1. yes, you can grab food from the buffet and bring it to your room. You also have the counter service spots on deck and free room service if you prefer!
2. I havent paid too much attention to the drink of the day but any time I have had one, its been on the main deck. Servers are walking around with trays of them. Not sure if they are available anywhere else.

I'm so excited for my family and I to enjoy our first Disney cruise......any food dos and donts????
DO: If you bring your own Tervis cup or camelbak for the self-service drink machine, just remember to get your drink using the cups Disney provides and then pouring the drink into your own cup (way to contain any contamination or spreading of viruses/bacteria).

DO: Try different foods, so many different options. If you want to try two appetizers just ask your server.

DO: Kids can order from the adult menu if they don't find anything they want on the kids menu.

DO: Enjoy the yummy food!!!

Thanks for the advice and replies! We sail out on Christmas Eve surprise for our daughters! Trying to decide on how to announce it!!!

We are surprising our children next week with a 7 night fantasy cruise. I made them each a book with photos and our itinerary, descriptions of port adventures with lots and lots of photos, stuff like that. We will give it to them just before we get in the car to go. I think they will go nuts!

Yes, the Drink of the day is available at dinner, along with any other cocktail (not just the ones listed on the dinner menus). I nearly always have a Cosmopolitan at dinner.

1. My wife has a really funny picture of me eating chicken fingers in the shower in our room from the last cruise. Our son was passed out in the room before the muster drill and I was hungry and needed a place to eat. Ahh good times. You can either leave the plates in your room for housekeeping or out in the hall like a room service tray.
2. Another fun fact about the drinks, each dinner menu will have signature drinks that go with the restaurant. Some include light up cups or ice cubes (for an extra fee of course)!

Take one of those drink carriers from Starbucks with you to haul drinks back to the room. :)

Can you post a picture? We are surprising our daughter for her birthday (sail out on actual day) and our nephews. I have been trying to figure out a way to reveal it lol.

I can't get it to post here. I sent you a message.

One thing about the Drink Of The Day: depending on where you order it, it may be poured from a large vat of pre-made drink. For example, the small bars that are set up on the pool deck are like that. However, if you go to a full-service bar, they make it to order and I've found them to be much better that way (among other things, the pre-made ones have ice in the container that tends to melt and dilute it as the day goes on).

So in theory, if you really love a particular drink of the day and the bartender knows how to make it, will they make it for you even when it's no longer the drink of the day? I haven't cruised before, so I don't know how realistic it would be to want a drink of the day from another day, but I like to keep all my drink options open!

The drinks of the day are all very common on board and available any day from any bar - all the bartenders will know how to make them any day.
