We are going to be at Disney May 1st-7th. I am going through my girls' clothes to figure out what I have for "summer" clothes. Can anyone tell me what the temperature is like. I was thinking I would most likely be wanting to dress them in shorts but does it still get chilly there at night? Thanks!:)

Average lows in Orlando in May are mid '60s. You might want to bring light jackets.

I agree. We're going in May this year too- the 12th -19th. We've been in May before and it can be really hot during the day (80's and sometimes 90)but the evenings I remember wearing a light jacket. Plus I would bring a light jacket anyway for the a/c. I remember that trip well because I remember on the way back to our resort the bus driver commented on how hot it was and how the 90's were breaking records. Hopefully it won't be that hot but still 80's are hot! Have fun!

All we're bringing is shorts & tshirts and maybe one pair of light pants each. Oh - and the light jacket (waterproof if possible). Of course the usual bathing suits, etc. A sundress or two for the girls. Have a great time.

We typically go a little later in May (around the 15th/17th to the 24th/28th), but of the maybe 30 days we've spent in Orlando during May since 2003, I can honestly say that I've worn my jeans in the evening 1x and never worn a full-fleged jacket - although I often have worn lightweight capris and often worn a lightweight cotton cardign in the evening. (Actually, my cardigan gets more wear during the day because when it is HOT out and then you head into the A/C (rides, meals, shows), I always end up freezing- so I started brining a lightweight sweater with me!))

Even though I am guilty of always packing "just in case" an artic spell passes through, we never really use the stuff - my DH has finally refused to even bring jeans for himself! I think good advice would be to pack one sweatshirt or cardigan and pair of jeans/khakis for each of your kids - and also a pair of closed toe shoes (ie tennies instead of sandals in case it does get chilly). I doubt you'd need more than that (evenings). Shorts/lightweight capris should be just fine for the days.

Hi all. We will be at WDW May 6-12. The guide books I've looked at say the average highs are about 88 degrees. Do you think this is hot enough for the water parks? I'm not sure whether to spring for tickets to those if it's going to be too cold. I'm thinking that if it's in the low 80's it would still be too cold. Water parks are so much better when it's HOT.

There will be 6 of us. DH, myself and my 4 kids ages 5,6,7,9. I just don't want to waste money and have whiny kids. What do you experience Disney people think.

I was glad to find this thread, because I too tend to over-pack and with 6 of us the car will fill up quick. So much stuff to bring.

Thanks.

I think it is going to be perfect for swimming. Even if it is a little chilly one day, all of the pools are heated. So enjoy!!:thumbsup2

Yes it is definetly warm enough-we were there last year the first week in May and we did Typhoon Lagoon and it was nice-not too hot but not cold at all just nice and warm. HTH:)

Thanks everyone! I probably would have overpacked as I was thinking I should bring pants for the evenings! I'm so glad to have found this board before my trip. I've been before with my husband a few years back but this will be the first time with DD's: 5,5 and 3! Very excited, but just trying to figure out everything to pack without going completely overboard!! :rotfl:

We went last May (mid month) It was HOT. We wore tanks/shorts everyday, and I brought a sweatshirt for the evenings just because I am always chilly. My kids swam every single day. I would suggest a light sweater to use while in the air conditioned restaurants or shows. It feels nice at first, but after a little bit you do tend to get a chill.

Dressing in Florida is one of the hardest things--Today it is going to be right around 90, 2 days ago the high was right around 68. More than likely you will wear shorts every day, but you really never can tell!

Great Question! We will be there the 10th-14th! And I am LOST..I tend to be an over-packer, so if I know a little better..it'll help!

We bring 1 pair of pants, 1 sweatshirt usually (instead of jacket) and one lightweight long sleeve shirt. Usually none are worn, but I like to have them just in case.

For DD last May, I brought a light jacket for her, and in case of a chilly evening...leggings!!! They roll up small and don't take up much space. And in May, they are warm enough. :thumbsup2

It is usually hot here in May, but they have the AC cranked down low! I would being a sweater even in the day for chilly restaurants.

Hello- we live in Florida and trust me, it'll be hot! I can see bringing a light sweater or jacket...probably more for the a/c than the nights, though!

It's not as bad as June-August/early Sept....but it'll still feel very hot, especially during the afternoon.
