dressing for dinner

pants, shorts, or, since its MY vacation and what I wear shouldn't bother you, bathing trunks.:joker:

but seriously, I wear khakis. The sight of my unadorned legs have been known to make women swoon....

and DCL has changed their on board swooning policy

My DH wore khakis and a resort shirt (short sleeve, button down, tropical pattern) on most nights. For Palo and semi-formal night he wore suit pants with a dress shirt and on formal night he wore a tux. Most people don't get as dressed up as we do, but we like to.

Typically at night I wear dockers and either a polo or a Tommy Bahama/Hawaiian type button up shirt. Yes, even on "formal" nights.

LOL.

So far we haven't had a formal night on Disney (but on Royal DH wears a suit for formal). He wears khakis and a polo or a button-up long sleeved shirt on Disney. At Palo he wore the suit.

He brings one pair of nice shoes and wears those for dinner. Then we go back to the room and he changes into comfier shoes. The goal is to get him some comfy AND nice shoes (same with me, actually) but we haven't achieved that goal yet.

I think it depends on the itinerary. On the WBPC, DH was much more "formal" as were most of the other passengers. On the shortie Caribbean/Bahama Cruises, definitely more golf attire. On the California Coastal, slacks and a polo or button up, add tie for formal look. In Alaska, Slacks and a button down usually with a jacket.

For casual nights I wear khakis and either a polo or aloha shirt. I bring two sets and wear them on alternate nights. This is what I typically wear when going out to dinner at home.

For formal and semi-formal nights I wear my tux (I have one to attend my wife's business functions) which I wear both nights to justify the weight and space of bringing it along. On one cruise, I wore a kilt on on these nights. For dress-up nights, I'll wear the khakis with a dress shirt with a tie and a jacket.

Slacks and button up shirt on casual nights.
Suit on formal nights. First cruise I did rent a tux, but that was a different cruise line and tuxes were required on formal night, suits on casual night.

But I'm an old school cruiser, love the dressing up and lengthy multi-course dinners.

My husband wears shorts or jeans on cruise casual nights, with a Tshirt. On dress up nights he wears suit pants with a long-sleeve shirt and a tie on formal night.

Hubby wears khakis and a collared shirt - usually a short sleeved polo. He brings a navy sports coat and white button down and tie for formal. He got tired of packing a suit AND a sports coat so just goes with the jacket. He usually wears it with jeans on the flight down so he doesn't have to pack it.

My husband wears jeans and a Polo most nights. He wears khakis and a dress shirt on semi formal night and a suit on formal night.

Honestly, you will see everything from shorts to suits every night. Whatever you would wear for a date out at home maybe? The only thing against the dress code is swimwear and pool cover-ups.

If you enjoy dressing up, go for it! If more casual is your thing, that is fine too.

For ALL nights (except Palo and Remy) I wear tan slacks, a polo shirt w/collar and loafers.

Thanks for all your replies. My husband hates to dress up. So, with that being said he will be alright in khakis at night, even for semi formal. However, for formal I guess we could skip and do a casual meal elsewhere.

Correct--what I wear to dinner also includes formal night. You will find as many dressed that way as you will men with a jacket.

My guys do khaki pants or linen type casual pants and collared shirts of some sort. Sandals or "nice" flip flops (ha). We dress up a little, we do change for dinner, we like that about cruises. On long cruises, they actually like doing the formal wear rental thing. They get 2 nights worth of fancy clothes and no fuss. Only problem is I have to come up with outfits that match tuxes

On cruises in the carribbean my husband wears a sport coat with shirt and tie. On the European cruises it tends to be a little more formal so he brings his tux. We like dressing up so we do it whenever possible. And for palo he always wears sport coat.
