I was just wondering if anyone has bought there dresses from online through any of the companies in China? If anyone has, please let me know how that went and also let me know which website you got the dress from? Thank You.

I did consider it, seeing as half of the gowns are made there anyway !

I looked on ebay and the prices are great.

Linz xxx :)

I was wondering about this too....Since they come from there anyway, you would think the quality would be the same, right? It just worries me about ordering it like that. Anyone done it and been happy with it?

I'm trying one that was recommended from Bridal Bargains. It's the same dress as the one I want from Alfred Angelo. The dress is 50 and shipping is about 75. I'm using PayPal and they have a guarantee if it's a mess to get my $ back, but this seller has 2000 feedbacks and they're 100% positive. I'm doing this only because I have over a year. If the dress comes and it's nothing like pictured, I will have time to get the real thing. If I was down to a few months I wouldn't chance it. JMHO...

I have a year also, if you don't mind me asking what is the site that you ordering your dress? If it is Ebay, then what seller is it?

My friend (unfortunately not anymore so I can't get any details) ordered a wedding dress through ebay from China and it was absolutely stunning.

She had a strapless 'classic' style with a train and a panel of colour. They asked for her measurements - we ended up measureing bits she didn't know she had lol - and it was done perfectly. The only thing we had to do was to cut little bits of cotton off at the end of some of the seams but it was only a tiny thing. The embroidery and bead work was really nice.

I don't have any pictures as she didn't get married, but she sold it for three times what she paid for it!

if ordering form china do you have to pay coustoms charges also or just normal shipping??? the dress i have loved since the begining is from china and DH does not understand how much i love that dress so if i can get more info and some ppl who have done it i may just may be able to talk him into it.

You will not have to pay duty on a dress that costs $50. I was trying to find the exact amount on items ordered from overseas, but can't find the exact link. From this article (link) it looks like the personal use is up to $2000 before duty is required.

This is the seller I'm going with. I paid 49.99. The only downside that I'm finding is that Rob is having to measure "bits" (liked the word), that I didn't know I had either! I've found that the seller speaks very good English and is very nice to work with. The Bridal Bargains book said ordering a dress from China is equivalent to cutting out the middle man. But I'm going to reinterate what I said before - if you don't have some time before your wedding, I wouldn't order because if the dress isn't what you thought, you don't have time to get what you want without paying ridiculous rush fees. And pay with a credit card or another backed up form of payment.

Ok I'm done being Ms. Cautious. Can I go back to being the oblivious happy go lucky bride? :bride: lol

Im really tempted to buy one on ebay from China too - if anyone has any pictures of the finished product id love to see them. The dresses are custom made and so cheap that it wont be too big a deal if it turns out not to be what you thought - but their pictures look great. just type wedding dress into ebay (this is the co.uk site but sure its the same on .com) and loads come up x x:love:

MegKate, I was wondering when you ordered your dress? I was always wondering if you could keep me posted on how things work out with your dress? Also, when you get it, can you post pics?? Thank you.:cool1:

I just did. I'll definitely post back when I get it. I will probably wallpaper my planning journal with pictures if I like it. (Fingers crossed). :thumbsup2

Thank you. Are you getting married at disney itself, or just honeymooning at disney?

I'm doing both :) We're getting married at Sea Breeze Point at Boardwalk on October 12, 2009. Then we're spending a week honeymoon at the Contemporary Resort. I'm ridiculously excited! :yay:

I'm gettin married in my hometown, because my family is way to large and it is easier to accomadate them here, instead of having them travel. So, we are just honeymooning at Disney...The wedding will be September 5, 2009 and we will leave to go to disney on September 6 - 13. I am just so worried, becuase I have not ordered a dress yet and I am wanting to order one from China, because they are much cheaper and they are beautiful, but I am worried...I have heard the good and the bad. I guess I still have plenty of time, but I just worry way too much.:upsidedow

It's your wedding dress - of course you are going to worry, and you have every right too!!!!!!! :) I'm really glad you started this post, cuz it makes me feel much better about doing it, especially a year in advance:)

Yes..I am glad that I have close to a year, just incase something happens.

I ordered my dress from ebay for 8.99 and shipping was only 89.99. I did not have to pay for customs because they marked my package as a gift. They ask for your sizes and they are custom made to you. I only had to have my halter moved a little and the hem brought up two inches because I was wearing flats. I would definately buy from them again. The dress I chose had blue embroidery and they changed it to the shade of red I wanted. The dress also arrived in One month just like they promised as well.
