I've known I want to try on the original AA Ariel dress (style 201) forever. It's my #1 top choice but since it doesn't come in ivory I have to try it on and see how I feel about the white. Back in May or June I contacted a couple of local AA shops (of which there are only a handful in Calgary - less of them carry the Disney line) to find out who had that dress and another one (#2219 if you care) so that I could try them on. My mom is coming out in September (from Ottawa the equivalent of flying from New York to Montana) and so once I had a good contact at a store with both dresses in stock to try I booked my appointment and sat back to wait for time to pass until I get to go shopping. Last night I emailed the shop to confirm they still have both dresses as it's very important to me to get to try them both on and I got a reply back from them saying that due to 'an incident' in the building the building has been closed and is undergoing renovations and do I want to them to contact me 'in a few months' when they reopen. Are you kidding me?!? I had received no communication from them about this prior to me contacting them. What would have happened if on the day of my appointment I'd just driven over there? Now I'm trying to get an appointment for the same day at one of the other shops that sells the Disney line - and it has to be the same day as my mom's only in town for a few days and my sister and I both need the day off from work - and just praying they have that dress for me to try on.
My biggest complaint right now is why didn't they contact all the brides with confirmed appointments to let them know? Keeping my fingers crossed the boutique I contacted tonight has the dress and availability on the right day.

I'm sorry. I would be upset as well. Fingers crossed that you can get an appointment at a different shop and find the perfect dress. Good luck!

So neither of the other two stores in Calgary have the dress available to try on. I found it in Edmonton but can't decide if I should drive 2-3 hours just to try on the dress or make an appointment locally and possibly just try on similar dresses... I'm really upset. #firstworldproblems and all that but I'm upset anyway.

After talking it over with my sister and my mom I've booked an appointment at another shop locally for a few days earlier than planned. I'll go in and try on similar styles - and some totally different ones - and if I can't make up my mind then we'll drive down to Edmonton and I'll try the dress there.

That seems like a great compromise! So sorry to hear about that, but I'm sure you wouldn't have had a great shopping experience with such lacking customer service!

It seems so funny because up until I got that email their customer service had been great they responded within a day when I sent them a list of 5-6 dresses I was interested in, were very helpful when I booked the appointment and then suddenly this. Oh well I reserved a private room at the new shop with a two hour consultation with a senior consultant so hopefully I'll be able to make the decision and can avoid spending like 6 hours in the car.

Everything happens for a reason. I bet you'll find the dress of your dreams at this new shop! Enjoy the experience and make sure to post back about how it goes!

Everything happens for a reason. So often brides have a clear vision of what they want and then end up with a style dress that they didn't think they would like at all. I bet you will find the dress of your dreams at this new shop. Enjoy the experience and make sure to post back how it went!

Put it this way- think about the brides who have weddings in a month and now their dresses are gone!! What a nightmare!! You'll find something FABULOUS at this appointment I bet and if not- fun road trip!!!
