Hi All,

I will be at Aulani early next month at the end of a trip that also takes in Yellowstone, Grand Teton, and Anaheim. It could be very cold in Yellowstone while we are there, so I basically need to pack everything from snow gear to beachwear.
Due to excess luggage fees, I really want to avoid taking more than one suitcase per person, so I need to pack strategically. If that means leaving my dressy outfits and shoes at home, so be it.
With this in mind, what kind of clothing and footwear you allowed to wear inside Aulani restaurants. We have dinner and breakfast booked at the buffet. We'll only eat at Ama Ama once for a lunch, and we plan on going to Monkey Pod across the road for dinner.
I already figure that swimwear inside restaurants is a 'no no', but what about beach style sandals and shorts and t-shirts?

Thanks in advance. :)

I just returned from Aulani yesterday. We had 2 breakfasts and one lunch at Ama Ama. Most people just wore shorts or capris, t shirts/golf shirts/ aloha shirts or sundresses and sandals . I didn't see anyone wearing anything fancier. I had a dinner reservation there as well but cancelled it.

When you make your reservation confirmation email, it tells you on it what not to wear. I can't remember exactly but it it is things like bathing suits, cutoff jeans, etc.

We went to Monkeypod for lunch and it was also very casual.

Thanks so much for your reply. I didn't notice the mention of dress code on my reservation, but I I went back and checked and you are correct. I'm fine with what you can't wear and I'm pleased that it sounds like we will be fine dressed fairly casually. It would be such a waste of souvenir shopping space to have to pack heels and dress shoes for this trip.

You are welcome. I brought one nicer dress since I had made a dinner reservation but never ended wearing it as we cancelled it.

Found Aulani to be casual!:goodvibes
Brought a nice sundress with a jacket to wear at AmaAma, but dress there was very mixed as some were extremely casual.
We ate at Monkeypod twice, very casual! Personally, loved the "casual" feel to the resort, as the LAST thing I want to do on vaca is pack a lot of fancy clothes!
ENJOY!!!!:thumbsup2

I agree....pretty casual....don't over pack! We got back recently and I didn't end up wearing half the clothes I brought. A couple of everything is plenty...you spend most of your time in a bathing suit! Unless you spill something on yourself, your clothes don't really get dirty, and you can wear them over and over again. I found that two shorts, two sleeveless, two t-shirts, a workout outfit, one sundress and one light sweater plus my bathing suits, hat, flip flops, one running shoes, one beach cover up, and underwear would have been plenty. Save the space for souvenirs!

Side note: Your trip sounds awesome! Please consider doing a trip report when you return home. Presumably you're visiting DLR while in Anaheim? :earsboy:

Thanks, I am very excited. It's been a long term dream to visit Yellowstone and hopefully see as much wildlife as possible.

I will be visiting DLR. We could only squeeze in 2 days/3nights unfortunately, but we'll be packing quite a bit into that time :)

I wrote a Disney TR last year and I got a bit carried away. The posts became so long and detailed that I eventually got bored and gave up.
I will definitely attempt to write a TR this time as well, but I'm guessing it will probably be more of a highlights package. :)

Having lived on Oahu, I agree that Hawaii in general is VERY casual! We've gone for 2 weeks with only carry on bags each (bought toiletries at Target when we arrived, plus picked up tee shirts and things along the way).

You can get by with two pairs of sandals (one sneakers if you're hiking or going for a nice morning walk on the beach). A sundress folds up to practically nothing. Shorts are fine almost anywhere. We used to even (gasp!) wear shorts to church there.

We do laundry every day, so don't need too much!
