So , I decided to stop waiting for the luggage man around 11pm. Before going to sleep, I called the front desk and inquired about it. I was told it can take 3-4 hours from when you check in for luggage to arrive (which I knew but I just needed confirmation) and that if it was after midnight they would not come knocking on your door, but rather leave you a voicemail on your in-room phone, so if you saw the red light flashing you had a message and could call them back and they would deliver the bags if you were awake. Ok I thought, we checked in about 8:30, so that ment technically we had until 12:30, no need waiting I was tired. So fully dressed (since I had no PJ’s, I lied down and drifted off to sleep.
I woke up around 3:30 and tried not to panic, but it was too late I was panicing!!

I was in a slight sleep daze but looked at the phone, no flashing red light… oh-oh this could not be good. I calmed myself down and decided to give it some more time and forced myself back to sleep, though I was freaking out on the inside.
Around 5:45am I woke up and there was no light on the phone!!!! I was convinced that our luggage had somehow gotten lost in the shuffle!!!!! Our 4 bags were out there, somewhere. Maybe sitting alone, cold and scared at the airport, or worse yet, still on the ground in Boston! I contimplated what to do until DS woke up around 6am. I figured now was a good a time as any to get on the phone and figure out what the deal was. I called luggage services and explained my situation, the CM put me on hold. Seriously 5 minutes later he came back and asked me my first name, not last name, just first and then proceeded to put me on hold again,

at least I thought I was hold. Another 10 minutes goes by and DH is up now and he deciedes to just take a walk down there. I wait on hold a few more minutes and hang up with no more answers then when I starteed, 20 minutes before. This was not very magical!!!
A few minutes later DH called on the cell and said that the luggge guy apologized, but we got disconnected and he tried to call me back but only got a busy signal. Duh, that was because I was on hold!
Anyway, the luggage mystery was solved... it turns out the luggage was delivered last night around 11, only not to our room, but next door to MIL and FIL’s room. Huh?? They do that? Give luggage to people to whom it does not belong? I was iritated! We woke up MIL and FIL and indeed found our luggage in their room!

MIL decided that when the luggage guy came knocking on their door that she would just have him leave our bags in their room, because she thought we were asleep. Grrrrrrrr. Guess she thought I would enjoy sleeping in my clothes. I had a restless night sleep for nothing. I tried not to be too irrated, she was afterall, only trying to help, but I was very annoyed. I tried to move on. Once the luggage was in our room, I immediately started the unpacking and organizing. It was now 6:30 am and we had to be at MK rope drop by 8:45. At least that was the plan.
We wereheading out to the bus about 8:20 when I realized I had somehow lost my KTW card (already!!!!!), so we had to stop at guest services to get a new one for me, luckily it was super easy. We were on the bus heading to MK by 8:35. We got to MK just as the rope drop ceremony was happening. Yah! We did it!!

DS ready for the sun on day 1!
Now I had decided early on not to let people irrate me on this trip. OK MIL already irrated me but that doesn't count, I mean strangers in the parks! I have experienced first hand, rude, nasty people while at WDW. I know it’s hot, I know people get tired, but there is not need to by nasty!! I was definitely not one of those people and tried really hard to treat people the way I wanted to be treated, nicely. Well I was not even through the gate when I experienced one of those nasty people. I was pushing DD in her stroller and had to go through the gate once we put our tickets through. Now we were last minute to rope drop so the people waiting already were backed up almost to the entrance gate. As I tried to get through the gate with DD’s stroller there was a woman stopped in front of the gate, apparently waiting for the ceremony to end. Ok, understood , it was crowded and she wanted to see. I said excuse me several times, but with the rope drop ceremony music going, this woman did not hear me and I could not reach her to tap her shoulder and get her attention. Now I knew their was a line forming behind me waiting for me to continue throught the gate, but this woman was keeping me from going any further! I reassesed the situation and thought I had enough room between her foot and the gate to get the stroller through. I tried to squeeze through and it was tight. I again said excuse me a couple of times, but she again did not hear me. I ended up rubbing the wheel of stroller against the side of her sneaker. At that point she finally turned around and said, and I quote “apparently you don’t know how to say excuse me”. Now I wanted to say back to her a number of quick and equally as nasty comebacks, but I took the high road. I calmly and polietly said, “I’m sorry, but I did say excuse me several times, you must not of heard me over the music.” And I gave her a great big magical smile. (even though she didn’t deserve it!) She glared and me, said nothing and turned and walked away since the rope drop ceremony was now over. I tried not to let it bother me, but I fumed for a few more minutes.
All of that negative energy immediately melted away, as soon as we set foot on Main street and saw the castle. I choked up, per usual, and my mood was instantly better. There is just something about seeing the castle for the first time that is so... well magical. It was even better when DD andDS saw the castle and freaked out, it was great.
DD and DS on Main St.
The plan was to head to Fantasyland. We started that way, got stopped by the photopass photographer, then MIL needed a coffee. Grrrr. Did she not know there was a plan???? (little did I know that the “plan” would soon go out the window) Here is how that went. MIL orders coffe, pays for coffee, waits for coffee, takes coffee over to counter to get cream and sugar, puts in cream and sugar, sips. No not right, more cream, more sugar, another sip., struggles to put cover on. Finally we were on the move again. She is not top on my list this morning, first the luggage, now this!
We got to fantasyland rode, the Carrousel, Snowwhite, and the Teacups. Alice and Wonderland was actually riding the Teacups the same time as DD it was sooo cool!!
DS and DD on the Carrousel
DH, DD and FIL on Teacups

From there DS saw the tomorrowland speedway and were diverted. Remember his love of all things wheels, this was just up his alley.
DS and FIL on Tomorrowland Speedway
After that, we headed back to Fantasy land and rode Dumbo.
DD and FIL on Dumbo
From there we went to Mickey’s toon town, rode Goofy’s Barnstormer, visited Minnie’s house, Mickey’s house and went to the Judge’s tent to see the man and woman themsleves. Now DD did not want to go see Micky, or so she thought. She was a little freaked out by the darkness of the queue in the Judge’s tent and partically pitched a fit. This was because Snowwhite scared her and since it was dark in the queue she thought it was the same type of scary ride. I tried to explain that it was not a scary, and that we were goiong to meet Minnie and Mickey. She was reluctant and complained most of the wait. Once we got into the small room where Minnie and Mickey were she immediately changed her tune, and was estatic. We took a group photo.
DD and Minnie
Then I wanted to do a photo with DD and DS with Mickey and Minnie. DD did not want to be near Mickey at all. She did take to Minnie and even hugged her. The funniest thing was when we were walking away, Mickey thought DD wanted to hug him too, and as she walked towards him to head to the door he leaned out to hug her. She was having none of it and did a move I have can only describe as something out of the Matrix movie. She managed to bend he body around his reach and ran out the door! Too funny!
After that it was time to ride the WDW RR. We boarded in Toontown and rode it all the way around the park, getting off where we started, DS loved it. From there we walked to Tomorrowland and rode Buzz. After that it was lunch time. Cosmic Rays. Yum. After lunch as we headed towards the Castle we noticed there seemed to be a parade of somesort going on. Hmmm,I honestly did not know what it was. Come to find out it was the "Move It, Shake It, Celebrate It! Street Party" Where everyone dances and there are floats with all the characters on it. It was fun!
Jessie
Minnie
There were all sorts of characters there. The Incredibles, Geanie from Aladdin, Toy Story, Jungle Book... tons!
Lumiere
Now we had orginally stoped at the WDW barber on our way into the park, but the line was already too long and we decided to check back in after lunch, which is where we headed to next, and the line was not bad at all. DS got his first haircut here when he was 11 months old, and he has been back every time we go, this would make haircut number 4.
Ta da!
After the haircut, we did a little shopping, check out DD mickey ears!
We then headed back to the hotel for a swim and a rest, it was 2:00pm.
Did I mention the weather? HOT. In the mid 80’s an d expected to be 90 by weeks end. No rain in sight! Yeah!
We had dinner ADR’s at Boma, we played out our options of getting to the AKL and decided to hop a bus to DTD and then transfer to the AKL bus. We waited for the DTD bus, and waited for about a ½ hour. It was now 5:30 and reservtions were at 6:20. We decided to skip the bus and got a taxi to AKL. $17.00 later, we were there. An expensive ride because there was construction going on and we litterally sat at one intersection forever and just watched the meter tick away. That mess probably explains why the bus took forever.
We had dinner at Boma, my first time there and I enjoyed it a lot. The potatoe bacon soup was my favorite! DH ate so much! It was a great meal.
The plan was to head to DHS, but we opted instead to got to DTD. Big mistake. It was crowded, DD and DS were much more tired then we thought. We stayed about 45 minutes, bought nothing and headed back to POP to get a good nights rest.
Earlier in the night DH complained of a slight upset stomach and thought it was something he ate, let’s just say it was a good thing we got back to the hotel early, beause poor DH needed to be near the bathroom. (Sorry for the TMI). I started to worry that it could be that nasty norwalk virus I’ve read so much about on the boards, or worse, the swine flu that was making headlines the day we left. He says he doesn’t feel feverish or like he’s going to vomit, just… well… the other stuff. We’ll see how the night goes as everyone is settling in to got to sleep…. Stay tuned!
