Going to bed late did not make getting up early easy… but once we heard DD and DS next door in the IL’s room (the walls are thin at the POP) it was nearly impposible to sleep anymrore. So we got up and got the day started. By now we had a good system down, park then back to the hotel for swimming and rest, showers then out again at night. It was working well for us.
Today’s plan was Animal Kingdom. Speaking of plans, by now we have gone pretty much off what I orginally planned out before getting here. I was proud of myself for the schedule I came up with but, with the IL’s here, the extra set of bodies that we can’t boss around as much as the kids have really slowed us down. But it’s ok, we were still having a blast and that’s all the matters. DH and I have all ready talked about our next trip just being the 4 of us for sure, so we can do things “our way”.
We headed out the door for AK. It was a hot one today, going to be near 90 before the day was over. But I can’t complain about the weather, it beats the rain and I’s definitely warm enough for swimming. We arrived at AK a little after 9am.
DS at the entrance
We headed straight for the Safari, it had a 20 minute wait and we decided to get FP so w could walk the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail. DS and DD loved the Gorillas and the bats the best. We didn’t get to see any Hippos though, on this day they were hiding. We headed to the KS and got right on. This turned out to be one of the best Safari’s we have been on. We saw lots of animals right up close and when we were at the Rhino’s two of them were charging at each other and they came right across the road in front of us, it was so cool!!
After KS we headed over to Asia and the Maharajah Jungle Trek. The Tigers were being lazy lying off to the side but we still got a good view of them. After that we went to Nemo the musical. It was cool inside the theater and gave us a good break. About ¼ way through the show DS really had to go to the bathroom, (he uses this as an excuse a lot when he is in siuations that make him nervous)Bruce the shark really freaks him out which is what I am pretty sure cuased this- we usually tell him he has to wait (because most of the time he doesn’t really have to go) but he kept insisting and finally DH had to take him. They didn’t end up coming back in which is too bad because I know he would of loved it once we got past the Shark parts.
Next up, lunch. We headed over to Pizzafari. It was yummy! I love the Apple pie dessert they have here.
After lunch we headed back to Dino land. DD and DS wanted to play some games and DD wanted to ride TriceraTop Spin. When we finished up this we started heading towards the exit. I really wanted to ride Kali River Rapids, but no one else did and the kids were hot and just wanted to swim. We grabbed a snack on our way out and were back at POP by about 2:30.
I ended up takikng only one picture at AK that day- not sure how that happened!
I decided it was a good day to do some laundry. It really piles up fast when your basically chaning twice a day! The kids and DH swam as did MIL, FIL took a nap and I was on laundry duty. It’s nice that the laundry room was right near the pool so I didn’t have to stand there at literally watch it. Though I was not in the mood swim. I decided to take a walk around POP and check out some of the other parts.
After laundry and swimming we started getting ready for our night out. DH and I were going out on our own and having dinner at Le Cellier in Canda. We were really looking forward to this. MIL, FIL, DD and DS were also going to Epcot but having dinner at Askerhaus. Their reservation was much earlier than ours (ours was not until 8:20pm) so they were going to leave before us. DD brought two princess dresses with her and tonight she wanted to wear the Belle dress. She looked so cute, and I was surprised when she ended up keeping it on the whole time they were out.
DD and DS ready for a night out
DD the future super model!
DH and I headed over to Epcot and walked aroun d for bit, we hoped to sneak onto Soarin’ or get a FP for later, but it was a 60 min wait and the FP were all gone for the day. We decided to ride Spaceship Earth, which niether one of us had done in ages. I love the changes they made to is, and the cool cartoon they make at the end with your picture!
We went over to Le Cellier around 7:15 to just see if they might be able to seat us earlier, theu couldn’t so we headed around the world. We stopped in England and got a drink and then found a bench to sit on in France and just people watched. I LOVE people watching!!! I’ve decieded someday I’m going to take my laptop into a park one day, find a nice shady spot and just start writing about all the things you see. The different people, the way the dress, the way the act, it’s fascinating to me.
We headed to Le Cellier around our reservation time, but they were reunning about 15 minutes behind. While we were hanging out in the gardens I received a text from one of my best friends. Her and her DH were in the process of adopting a baby. (my friend had ovarian cancer and couldn’t have children of her own- she is cancer free now though) The birth mom was due anyday. She texted me to say that the baby had born!!! YEAH!! Levi Joseph! They were going to get to see him tomorrow and they would send pictures. I cried with happiness. It made dinner all that much better. And dinner was amazing! We loved Le Cellier, the food was amazing and the service the best we’d experienced so far. We missed Illuminations, so after we continued around WS.
I love walking around WS at night, it has such a different feel than during the day, I think it’s pretty romantic. And speaking of romance, as we were walking we saw a bridal party, with the bride and groom all derssed up. It was so cool. If I could do my wedding over, I would make is smaller and definitely at WDW.
My DH
We rode Maelstom in Norway and they stopped into “Mouse Gears”. Despite being in WDW for her birthday DD was actually expecting presents, so we learned today. Since tomorrow was her birthday we needed to get her something. I decieded on a Hannah Montanna towel. After that we were dead tired since we were out late the night before, when we finally crawled into bed it was just about 11pm. It was a great night and I’m glad I got to spend some quaility time with DH!!
Day 7- Happy Birthday Gracie!
