Ok I must confess I have never done a trip report before. But, I have read plenty and given the fact that I do a whole lot of writing for a living, I figured I'd give it a crack, so I hope that who ever stumbles upon this enjoys it!
*Official disclaimer. My brain thinks much faster than my hands can type, so I apologize in advance for spelling mistakes, forgotten words in sentences and any other typos or grammatical errors!!
First things first, introductions.
Me I'm a 37 year old Disney fanatic. I'm freakishly young looking for my age. (not really, but it makes me feel good to say that in hopes that somone might believe it!
) I work as a TV Producer, hence the writing refence above. I work at the local ABC affiliate in NH, where I produce and 'coordinate' segments for a lifestyle magazine show all about NH. I get to to go to really cool places and meet really cool people. It rocks. I love my job.
This will by my 10th trip to WDW. I went once in '78 when my estranged father decided to do something nice for the children he basically abandoned years before. It was the only nice thing he has every done for us. And in retrospect I'm not sure how nice it actually was. He was a truck driver at the time (like an 18 wheeler type truck) and he had to make a trip to FL and so he loaded my two sisters and I nto his cab (it was a big cab) with his "new family", that included a wife, and 3 other kids, and we drove south. I don't remember much I was only 7, but I know we went to Magic Kingdom because that was all that was there then. Anyway, that's enough therapy for one day.
After that trip I did not got to Disney again until 1996, on spring break during college. 12 of us loaded into 3 cars and drove from Northeastern VT (basically Canada) to Daytona and then onto Orlando. I think that is when I caught the Disney bug. After that I went again in 97', 98', 99' (honeymoon), 00', 02', 03', and my last trip before this one in 07'.
DH 34, Thankfully he is into Disney as much as me! He too went once as a child and then not again until his parents took us in 98', right after we were engaged.
He works in retail, as a manager at a store called Bed, Bath and Beyond. I don't know if they have those everywhere, but there are quite a few here in the Northeast.
Unfortunately he doesn't get a lot of time off at the holidays, so as much as I would like to spend Christmas at WDW, it's just not in the cards for us. But that's OK, I'll deal.
His favorite ride is RnR at DHS. Which is strange because he hates every other rollercoaster known to man. He says it's because it's inside and it's dark. I say it's because he's lame! HA! He also loves the World Showcase, especially eating and drinking his way around each country.
DS 7. My DS is a Disney lover as well, he is afterall a product of his parents.
This will be his fourth time going. He likely doesn't remember the first two trips because he was only 1 and 2 years old. But when we were there in 07' he was 5yo and really into it. So he is looking forward to this trip a lot.
He's a little timid with rides. He has ADHD, speech delays and likely an anxiety disorder (still going through tests) so he tends to get scared easily and be timid about stuff. But he has gotten braver as he has gotten older and I am confident I can get him on a few rides this time around.
His favorite Disney characters are Lightening McQueen and Mater. He absolutely loves cars, truck, planes anything that moves, so that is why I think he is so drawn to that movie. He watches it all the time.
He says he is most looking forward to riding the monorail. Go figure.
DD 4. She will actually be turning 5 on this trip and is very excited to spending her birthday at the happiest place on earth. Can you blame her?
She is part tomboy, part princess, she really hasn't decided which one she likes more. She loves getting all dressed up but also loves picking up worms and playing in the mud.
She is going to be tall enough to go on most of the rides and says she will try them all. But it may be all talk, we shall see when we get there.
She used to be really in love with all the princesses but in the last few months has been leaning more towards Hannah Montanna. Her music is only slightly annoying and DD loves singing and dancing so it's cool.
Last but not least on this trip with us will be MILand FIL. They are both extremely young at heart and really love thier grandkids. My two are the only ones they will ever have because my DH is an only child, so they spoil them rotten. They've been to Disney with us twice before, once when it wast just the four of us and another time when my DS was 2. So it's exciting for them to be with both of their grandkids at WDW. Honestly and I don't think they care either way about the place, they are going just for the kids. Which is cool. I am a little nervous to be traveling with them, since they are in thier 60's and have "routines" but I hope they can go with the flow.
The Where, The When, The How
WHERE: POP Century, (our first time staying here)
WHEN: We leave THIS SUNDAY! (April 26th) and returning on May 4th.
This is my town's school vacation week so DS is only missing one day of school. (May 4th)
HOW: We are flying from Boston direct into Orlando and using DME.
OTHER: We are doing the DDP (basic) and have taken advantage of the 4/3 deal
My DH and my IL's have had little say (or even wanted to have any say) in what we are doing. I've done it all. Which is good, cause I am a total control freak. I produce things for a living, why should my vacation be any different right???
I think I leave it there for now. Writing this is very theraputic for me as I am tremendously excited about this trip and I'm hoping it will help these last few days fly by!
My goal is to write updates from WDW, depending on internet service. I'll have my laptop, which I have never brought to WDW before, so I'm new to the whole Wi-Fi, internet in your room thing. I know there is basically no Wi-Fi on property but I am still hoping I can get on the old fashion way or get lucky and intercept some service. So it will be exciting to be doing my first TP as a live report with daily updates! We shall see!
I'll be posting again before we leave.
