Dream Unlimited Travel Podcast: Greek Isles Royal Caribbean Cruise - 10/17

Awesome show! Brings back memories for me! Common mistake but the cruise ships can't go through the Grand Canal as reported in the episode - they don't fit under the Rialto Bridge. Most of the ships go through the Canal della Giudecca - it has the same "feeling", only wider and no bridges. I only know this because I made this same mistake - don't want people disappointed if they book a similar trip!

Interesting episode, I would have like to have seen a little more about the places the ship docked but I get it's not their style to do a lot of touring these places. I was really surprised at how inexpensive the cruise John quoted was, if I could get my honey on a transatlantic flight and then on a ship that didn't involve jumping in the water and videoing the sea life, I'd so be all over that. Greece is one of those places I'd love to see.

Enjoyed this episode immensely! With the visuals of Val hiking up her skirt and running through the airport, Kevin and the donkey, and John and the cable car (I am so with you there, John!!!), it sure made a nasty commute enjoyable this morning!!:drive:

Remember that was for an inside cabin. Good prices are also available for outside (and probably balcony too) cabins. On the 11-night cruise, an outside cabin was available for ~$2,000. A great price!

Heck if I got to go to the Greek Islands I might be happy to pay that for a cot in the boiler room. For 2,000 for 11 nights, I might have to tell my son he gets to go to Greece and my honey he gets a vacation from me.

Was the $2,000 for the 11 night for the insides? And that would be per person, based on single occupancy, right? Plus you've got to figure in air fare to Venice/back.

I thought John said the only prices he could find even somewhat of a comparable itinerary for in '17 were for 7 nights. And I thought he said $1,500 for inside (I'm assuming that's per person), and around $4,000 (again, assuming per person) for balconies.

Or do I have something messed up?

The prices I quoted on the show were for a 7-night Cruise in May 2017 with 'similar' ports of call to our cruise - I couldn't find our exact 11-night cruise in 2017 when I was getting pricing together for the show.

The prices I mentioned on the show were for 2 people - I think I said 'for 2 adults' - not per person - and they included port charges, fees and taxes (not air and not transfers).

I think $1500 for 2 people in an inside stateroom for 7-nights in Greece is pretty incredible - I know you have to add air to that but if you were looking to go 'on the cheap' and you're not the type of person to spend a lot of time in your stateroom it seems like a bargain to me.

Imagine going anywhere on vacation and spending $1500 for 7-nights in a hotel and all your meals included!!!!

@WebmasterJohn - You are so right! I thought $1,500 for one was good, but $1,500 for two is like you said - incredible!! I did think the jump to $4,000 for a balcony was a massive jump, but I guess that's cause I've only done 2 cruises in my life, and one of those was due to the generosity of a friend taking me on a Disney Cruise FAM. :o

Thanx so much for the clarification. LOVED the 2 shows (and all the Dreams shows, and all the DISUnplugged content, and, and and.......) :thanks: :disrocks:

I really enjoyed the show, it had me laughing. Over the last few weeks the Dreams has become my favorite of the podcasts. John is a really excellent host, it's been fun to see him sub for Pete and host two very funny additions of the Disney World show this month.
He manages the tempo really well, he has the dry humor, steady voice, a touch of frazzled, a sprinkle of annoyed boss and alot of heart. It's the perfect recipe and the others really play well off the tone for some hilarious moments. #fingernailrepair #bam! #princessprinciples #constructionisendless #ladiesglasses

Okay, I have to own the fingernail repair. Broke one artificial nail right across the nail bed somehow on the flight from the US to Italy. Like snapped in two, but still attached. Painful!!! So I did have to schedule an emergency manicure. :scared:

It was on embarkation day, though. There were other spa services and onboard shenanigans on Turkey day.:sail:

Damn your inside jokes woman.

This is how to tour. Rather than an $80 excursion get 5 people and offer a local $500 to drive you around and show you his country.

Good call on Turkey too. Know where you're going and weigh the pros and cons. I'm not saying Turkey is Afghanistan, but I wasn't a tourist in Orgun.

I'd love to see @DisneyKevin revert to being a New Yorker.
