hi! i don't think i have ever posted here before

although i was a disney CP for four months when i was in college, i have never actually taken a solo trip. i went to WDW twice this year (spoiled!), first with my Dex-BF (dumped me two days after returning from our wonderful jaunt to POFQ - but that's a story for another thread) and then with my lovely parents for the 4th of July.

now i am considering taking a real, just-for-me, dream solo trip in may of 2008. Dex & i went in may and it seemed the perfect time to be there - not too crowded, and warrrrrm weather! I am thinking the first week of that month. my thoughts are to go for seven nights, the first four at WL and the last three at YC. I have ALWAYS wanted to stay at those two resorts! And although i'm not one for doing TS alone, i may hit a few places i've always wanted to try - i'm thinking Kimonos & Cape May's buffet (hey if any other solos are traveling then, i'll be happy to meet up for a meal :thumbsup2 )

combined with airfare & an eight day park hopper, that's what, around 4 grand? :faint: as tempting as it is to go during the value season, i really want it to be warm enough for lounging around the pool. and this is my dream trip, right? ;) i have never stayed at a deluxe resort before, i think the Poly would be great for its monorail access, but if I want to to YC, that's probably out of the question. priiiiiiicy! ah well, i only have to save up what, $200 a month to pull it off? good thing i'm single with no children or pets to speak of (well, except for Alvin & Simon & Theodore - they are my sea monkeys. they don't require much care though). maybe i'll do a Poly/YC split for my 30th Birthday :teeth:

let's all be young & selfish for a moment. what would you do for your dream solo trip?

Sounds like a plan! ... A great thing about being single w/ no kids is that you can do what you want on your own schedule. Having the disposable income doesn't hurt either. Don't worry about the money. Years down the road you may regret that you never splurged when you had the chance.

The only thing I'd change with your Disney trip would be to head down during the Food&Wine Fest. Crowds are low to manageable, the weather can still be on the warm side, there's Halloween in the air, and F&W Fest has a ton of things to do for a solo traveller who's seen a lot of Disney previously. But then again, I'm a beer and food nut so it all comes down to personal preference.

I went solo last year and had a ball. I wish i had enough money to make my ideal "solo dream trip" a reality. Mine would be staying at the GF for 2 weeks with park passes and dining plan. This yea im getting pretty close to my dream im going for a week and im on the dining plan. I will be doing the Keys to the kingdom tour and maybe a spa treatment on my birthday. I figure its my dream trip why not pamper myself :goodvibes

brocktoon, i actually kinda like that idea - i LOVE food and wine fest, i worked at it when i was a CP (at the new zealand booth....mussels & lamb chops all day long!). and i *think* the end of it falls during value season, at the end of november? :scratchin but i am a fan of warm weather, so i'm not sure if that would be a good time to get a pool day in :thumbsup2

cheryl i like the idea of doing a tour on a solo trip - i have never done a tour! i do like to talk to people when at WDW alone so that would be a good way to do it. or try to jump on a DISmeet!
i don't know if i can REALLY afford my dream solo trip money-wise, but mentally, i think i NEED it...right? ;) actually, my true dream solo trip would be one week at the poly and one week at YC i think.....maybe someday! i hope you have a lovely birthday (DEFINITELY get the spa treatment! i have never had one, but if i did, WDW would be the place!!) :cloud9:

if it is your dream go for it!!!

I would do the Polyn and BC - but I own at DVC resorts and they are much cheaper pointwise to stay in a 2-bedroom than a WDW hotel room.

my dream - already say it 1 week in every Disney hotel.... but it was way to expensive~!~! and yes all the values, moderates and deluxes.

besides I already own DVC.

of course although single I am certainly not young.

I had a spa treatment when DH and I went last year. It was at the Grand Floridian and I had a wonderful time- well worth the money spent. The Keys to the Kingdom tour is lots of fun too.
