Yes, there will be Spa specials on port days. There will probably also be specials on sea days. They are posted in the daily Navigator you'll get each night. Also, if you visit the spa on the day you board, they usually offer a special or two.
Would it be better to schedule a spa treatment before you board or should you wait till you board for the specials. I'm planning on staying on the ship in Nassau.
If there is some particular treatment that you are after, they book it in advance. You can't know what specials they offer beforehand and you might not be interested in any of them.
I've never seen specials on the salon type hair offerings.
If you don't have a preference for what you're getting in the spa, I'd say wait to schedule until you're on the ship (but make sure you get the discounted price at check out). If there is a treatment you have your heart set on, I'd book prior to embarkation. Also be prepared for an incredibly hard sell of product after your treatment-some people find writing "no products please' or "no sales please" effective.
Yes, this is the worst part of the spa experience. I've found that its somewhat helpful to avoid any mention at all about "health issues" or "level of stress" on the questionnaire you fill out beforehand. That just seems to be an opportunity for them to try to sell you this product/service that is guaranteed to fix the issue. I always rate my level of stress at zero.
