Hello all!!!! Just got home last night from our wonderful journey on the Dream. I will try to give the important highlights!! This was our second DCL cruise, the first being a 4 night on the Wonder last November. DH and I have 2 kids, DD 9 and DS 7. We travelled with our neighbors who also have a 9yo and 7yo.
We arrived at BCV on Fri the 29th for 2 days prior to the cruise. We didn't go to the Parks, which actually was a good thinkg, although I didn't believe it would be. There was no pressure to go anywhere, and the kids LOVED the pools at BCV.
We took a private company, Spaceport Transport, for our transfers, which was about half the DCL cost. They were great!! We arrived at about 10:15am, went right into the line and got boarding group #2!!!!! We were able to get right into the kids club line and take care of that. Then we posed for pics with Minnie and were onboard by 11:50am.
We ignored the crew advice and went up to deck 11 for lunch, bypassing Enchanted Garden. This worked out great, as our 4 kids were the first ones in the pool and on the AquaDuck!!!!!
The ship is everything you would imagine!!! The attention to detail was fabulous, as I have come to expect from Disney!! The crew was very nice and personable. We really didn't have any significant issues the entire time.
We stayed in 8084, which is a Cat. 5a verdah room. It was really nice, very comfortable, etc. We only got the verandah because that was all that was availbale when I booked last december...I enjoyed it, but I don't think I would pay extra for it again. Although it was nice to be able to get fresh air, and I loved being up on Deck 8. The kids LOVED it!!!
CROWDS: Yes, there are more people; just do the math! However, common sense goes a long way. I didn't feel that Castaway Cay was any more crowded. The lines for elevators, especially from decks 3, 4, and 5 could be long. We used the stairs often. Also, we would get on one going in the opposite direction and then take the "scenic route". The worse crowds were on teh pool deck, especially on at sea day, as you can imagine. We took the kids swimming early to avoid the worst of this!!
Kids Clubs: This is, once again, one of my fvorite parts of a DCL cruise!!! The kids loved it, especially the new and expanded rooms on the Dream. The staff was awesome with our kids. We dropped them off and picked them around events we wanted to do together. The ease and flexibility of the program is so great!!! Our kids never got bored, and we had to "persuade" them to come out at times!!
More to follow!! Next up: Dining!!!!
