Just saw that our room is right above the lifeboats, is this a bad thing? Should I change it? Thanks!!

i'm sure someone with super dis skills will respond, but we had room 6550 on the dream and we were astraddle a lifeboat? and i'm not sure from the schema of the ship like if we were the deck above the lifeboats or maybe 2 above? but anyway, the main thing we noticed from previous cruisings on supposedly similar verandah rooms on the wonder is that the view out is not obscured - it was lovely. however, looking down, in general you no longer overlook the water, not neccesarily due to a life boat but due to the way the ship is bulit now, i would think that any verandah on either side of the ship are now over the decks as opposed to being truly on the side of the ship and over the water like before (if that makes sense!).

so i didn't really dig looking down at the boat per se, but where we were it wasn't like it was blocking things or reachable or something. i just remember that you could look down onto the decks and i think we were looking down off the corner onto one of the fancier verandahs - because i thought i would not want lookyloos like me peering down at me all the time!

Sambycat...we will be in 6550 and 6548 starting Sunday...any other info you could give us would be great...we have three kids (11,10,8).

oh yay for you! i was just looking at a ship map and seeing that, yes, we were above a lifeboat and there are indeed some larger verandah fancy rooms to the left and below our deck. but again, the view out was just fine, just diffenent looking out/down on the verandah then before. nothing bad or anything, just i really used to like staring down at the pretty swirly water!

anywho we liked the room, the loacation was fine! it will be great having the two spaces for sure! :cool1:

our only concerns (and most of them we thing were maiden voyage/new ship/crew issues) were of the "noone knows how to set the correct time on this little clock" variety! the bed was super comfortable, all in all we really loved it.

now.... the main drawback is.... you are right over the buena vista theater!! tron legacy was playing!!!! we could hear the tron-tastic sound effects in the room! it was NOT something that would jolt us awake from sleep or anything like that, more like we were going "what the heck was THAT?":scared1:

seriously though, we didn't notice any other movie sounds. but tron has that soundtrack and the crashes and explosion thing going on.... we actually felt better once we figured out what the heck we were hearing! :rotfl:

so we really did like the room alot - the new TV system and all that, i think overall the rooms have a lot of cool improvements to the basci design!

have a good trip and enjoy staying on our "honeymoon suite"!!! :thumbsup2

We were in #8130 on the 3/10 Dream and our verandah was above the lifeboats.

Don't worry about it at all! When sitting on the verandah and looking out at the view, the lifeboats are not visible at all. Only when you stand at the rail and look down do you see them.

We were in 7132 on one of our Dream cruises and here is the view from that cabin verandah.

I did miss the view straight down to the water but I still enjoyed the verandah.

We are in 7632 on our upcoming trip and I believe that is the same room on the other side, right?

I'm not too excited about the lifeboat views either (having just come off the Wonder where we enjoyed watching the dolphins swimming along side the ship). But I guess we will just have to spend more time sitting out there and enjoying things out in the distance instead :thumbsup2

8130 is one of our top choices if we do port side. How was that room?

Also, does 7132 sleep 5 (murphy bed)? That's on our list too if it can sleep 5.

Thanks for posting those pics!

We booked 7134 on the Fantasy and chose it because we thought it was past the lifeboats. But I guess one room over from 7132 won't give us a better view :confused3

Question: DId you hear noise from the lifeboats or their structures?

If you care to send your e-mail address will be happy to send you some pictures of Cabin #8130 on the Dream and answer any questions about the room if I can. We loved the location and the room.

I am pretty sure it does.....it looks like the murphy bed is behind the chair in this pic.....it was just hubby and I in the cabin so I was not looking for it but I just noticed when I pulled up this pic now (I wanted a pic of the chair LOL).

The room was great but the view not the best. did not affect the view while sitting only if you stood at the rail

I'll say it again, for the life of me I don't understand why they didn't make the lifeboats flush with the ship like on the classics. You're paying for a verandah and really can't get a "whole" view (I love looking down at the ocean and to the left and right to watch the ship moving :sad2:).

Oh well, that's what is so great about this board -- helps us be prepared for our trips and not get a huge disappointing surprise :thumbsup2

That's exactly what that is. My son (11) slept there, my twins on the couch and ceiling bunk, and I got the bed to myself. We were in 7140, and very extremely happy with the room.

I know this is an old post, but do you still have your pictures from 7132? We are in 7134 and I'm nervous about the view now ... wondering if I should go back to Deluxe Family Oceanview no verandah ....TYIA
