Has anyone ever stayed at the Drake in Chicago before? It's listed as a "historical' hotel, but gets mixed reviews on trip advisor. I found a site that lists rooms from 159.00 a night, which seems high, but might be worth it if it's a really nice hotel. Can't beat the location on Michigan Ave.

I have not stayed at the Drake but it is a historical beautiful hotel. $159 in downtown Chicago is cheap.

Only other suggestion I can make is SniqueAway has the Hotel Monaco staring at $110 a night. It's closer to Millenium Park but it in heart of the Theater District in the Loop.

HTH! :wizard:

That price ($159/night) right off Michigan is a STEAL!! :lmao:

We just got back from Chicago and it's a very expensive city.

I agree with the others - $159 for the Drake is a steal. Grab it!

What site did you find this deal??? We are looking for one too.:goodvibes

That's a great price for the Drake.

We had DD's wedding directly across the street at the Millenium Knickerbocker and our negotiated, wedding block rooms were $279/night!

We just stayed at The Omni with a great deal from Travelzoo ... $129/nt., including valet parking and $25/nt food&bev voucher.

Can't say enough about how nice the staff were, the room was nice, great view of Michigan Ave. and great location. Would definitely recommend if you can get a good deal there.

I've traveled a lot and Chicago is really high when it comes to hotel costs. Like the other boardies have said, $159 for a night is a good price.

We got the Renaissance for about $99/night on Priceline last year. It might be worth a shot to try PL. You can narrow it to that area.

I have stayed at The Omni Chicago and I know that is a great price! Good for you.

A group of people from my work stayed there last year in June and they stayed one night and checked out. The doors didn't latch correctly, could be pulled open from out in the hall with little effort. They had a block of 10 rooms and all were like this. The did not like how dark the halls were, they didn't feel safe, there were a lot of people just wandering the halls that didn't necessarily look like they belonged there.

It's nice - smaller-ish rooms, being older, but in a fabulous location and just beautiful.

We snagged it for $89 off Priceline, two years ago. Lemme see if I have pics....

It was a girls night - hence my g/f laying on the squishy, yummy bed:

Try and ask for a room with a view. It's stunning:

It's fabulous, we had girlfriends getaway there a couple years ago and we loved it. We did the tea in the afternoon and everything it was great.

You will enjoy yourself and the historical aspect can not be beat. Make sure you take time to enjoy all the beautiful craftsmanship in the building.

DD and I stayed at Four Points last summer and loved it. It is just a couple blocks off Michigan Ave (near the Water Tower). I was I think $140/night - but that included parking, $20 for breakfast {in the form of a gift card to e.leaven cafe next door- great stuff!} and the "American Girl package" {cookies and milk + an American Girl doll bed to keep}- not that you necessarily need that. Check their packages out though.

Great hotel. We had a microwave and fridge in our room. There is a Trader Joes in the same building- if you really wanted to do the thrifty thing, you could get frozen meals there and pop right in the microwave.

The only wierd thing was the hotel pool was only about 3' deep {It was also on like the 5th floor of the hotel- wierd, but hey, not a huge deal!}

The Drake is a historical hotel, I've never stayed there but have eaten there and the location can't be beat. They do a great job with their Christmas decorations! For that price it is a good deal. If your just looking for a hotel room nothing fancy than try TravelZoo, just seen some under $100 rooms at SAX, Holiday INN, etc.
