Dr. Jones and the Spitting Camel - Link to Alaska Cruise TR 9/18

Cynthia, you are SO due for a SAB do-over trip in May!:rotfl:

I better hear about lots of sunning, relaxation and partaking of adult umbrella drinks in May. Stick with Christine, and I am sure she will show you the way to do SAB!;)

Now - that's what I'm talkin' about!!!!! I definitely need some quality SAB time in May. No quick 15 min visits. That's part of the plan, right? Great pictures of the family and their melting ice cream. Hurray for Gin & tonics and rum & cokes!

WOW, I just spent half of my day reading your TR :surfweb:, my husband joined in half way. You guys are a lot of fun, E&E are so stinking cute! You guys sound a like how our family does Disney, sleeping in and staying up late. I have never made rope drop and am always late to ADRs. Cant wait to hear more.

The funny thing is of course, if I really were just sitting there doing nothing for too long I'd bet bored. But, every once and a while it'd be nice to at least have it as an option! The pool, my kindle, a bevvie.....sigh! I can't wait!!!!!!!

Between Hawaii and our girls trip I should get caught up! Which will be good as I'm betting it will then be another year before the opportunity presents itself!

Wow! Hi and :welcome: that's so cool you both read it, how fun!!!!!!

We are definitely a late night crew, more early mornings on this trip than maybe ever for a family vacation and our early is far later than some I know!

We're always late to everything! Not a ton but 5-10 minutes.....

:rotfl:

I kind of like the E's too. Thanks!!!!!!!!!

lots still to come on the trip, we're only about half way through it!

Okay, so now I want to know which deck of cards you bought. Is gin rummy the game of choice at your house?

LOL! It's a really pretty kind of translucent deck. VERY slippery at first. I think I took a picture of it, I'll go look.

Nah, the gin was for Sandie and Paul, the rum for us. Hence...gin rummy. :rotfl:

We play a lot of go fish and cribbage.

OK, I was twitching and mouthing "NOOOOOOOO!" as you were describing that the family was going to use TS credits on lunch!!! At least it wasn't breakfast. I guess.

Very good call on the walk back from HS. The boats are so stuffy and hot- I've heard that the airconditioning was not working over the summer (not sure if it is fixed yet) and the windows don't open.

GREAT photopass pictures! Love the brownie residue.

I know you love your family but after all this "herding" you soooo deserve a trip without them.

Walking back was wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know, given the fact that they had burgers, breakfast might have been a better use of the credits. :rotfl:

I love that brownie picture, it is SO Eric!

Jamaica in 10 days? How fun!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh I long for the sun.

I am planning two trips without them :rotfl: Jeff and I head to Hawaii on the 14th and then the girls trip is the 28th! :woohoo:

I wondered where you were going to stash Jeff and yourself for that elusive couple's trip. Hawaii sounds dreamy after all this wicked RAIN!

No kidding! It's been soggy and COLD!

Yep, Hawaii. The big island bekons! Scored a good deal and it all came together for 5 nights/6 days of sun and NO KIDS!

We've never been to the Big Island, heck we haven't been to Hawaii since 04, so it should be great! We so need that couples trip, we really hasn't had one since a long weekend in San Diego in May of 09 and nothing really "away away" since 2007!

Kind of funny though, between this and the girls trip I'll have done 3 red eyes in a year. I hate to waste a vacation day from work on travel!

:rotfl:

 I will do my best to share all my SAB knowledge. Which essentially consists of which chairs are in the sun at what time and what is the shortest route to Hurricane Hannah's. :rolleyes1

I can't wait! :yay:

That is VERY important info! I can say we were in the shade last year and a bit of a weird spot a different day...too close to the garbage cans once and in all cases it was a long roundabout way to HH!

SUN! I want SUN!

Ice cream time, Porch time, Pool time... sounds like it was a Good time! :goodvibes

And YAY for the couples trip!

Wow! Good for you, Cynthia! Hawaii sounds great and it must be a bit more doable when you live on the West Coast already!

I was glad to see that you salvaged your stressful afternoon. I can barely handle Max (and adding my mom into the mix on this past trip was a lot), let alone four kids and two in-laws. But you kept your cool!

I cannot tell you how many times I wish I had stolen your rum idea when we were there last month. Drinks at the pool bar were close to ten bucks, with very little alcohol in them, so, yeah coming prepared would have been a good idea! :goodvibes

LOL! I missed out on the porch time for the most part (and the ice cream) but the gang sure loved it and it was a great option to have while we waited out the delay. Very happy they let us in!

it is, a direct flight is actually about the same as flying to Orlando (also direct) and with 1 stop, actually faster as the connections are better and easier. We have really great flight times. I am very excited, we've not been in far too long for as "close" as it really is. Funny thing is I hope to go there next year with everyone, the kids will not be happy that we are going without them but I hope to make it up to them next year for either Mid Winter, or Spring break, at aulani and visit our cousins at the same time. Which reminds me, I need to email them for big island ideas!

Mary Ellen gets credit for the rum idea. Although, I think between the 6 of us on the girls trip with what we all plan to bring, we'll have almost a full bar! It really does save a lot of $$

I generally avoid pool bar drinks for that exact reason, definitely not the bang for the buck but there are a few around the World that are better values, like the Lapu Lapu and of course the Grey Goose Slushie!

I'm off to read about your trip, very behind, my week has been full with middle school registration drama and events, Jeff's birthday and a giant crate in my driveway!

Hi Cynthia!! I really hope that your trip will continue with a little bit less drama... I am amazed how easy you took all the deviations from your plans! :goodvibes Using TS credits for a burger at lunch?? Well, I guess this is the reason why Disney must love the DDP. I am sure many people make those mistakes and end up spending more on the DDP than they would have spent OOP... :confused3

I am off to Berlin this coming weekend and will take the Starbucks Via which you gave me in January with me to have a tasting together with Katharina! I will also pass on the insulated mug to her, she is really looking forward to it. She is a slow drinker and loves mugs in which her drink stays warm. I on the other hand love using the Starbucks Seattle mug, perfect size for me! And it is a reminder that I really would love to visit the West Coast of the US again - also because my aunt in California isn't getting any younger and I would love to visit her in the next few years...

Look at the CS and TS menu's online (I like the allears set up the best). It definitely has influenced where we've eaten for both TS and CS to try to give the kids the flexibility they need. We've had really good luck thanks to some extra planning.

I will have to take another look at the kids menus for the CS lists. thanks for the reminder!

Which brings us to…..8/16. Would I get my lazy pool time, drink in hand, grandparents entertaining teens?

.......

Would we make it? Would Sandie, Paul K&T actually make it to a park this day? And even if they did, would they do more than just eat there? I wasn’t so sure….

I am catching up today!;)You really do have the worst luck for the lazy pool time. not fair how mom always ends up the one to do all the running. Good thing you have another trip coming!!:goodvibes

well, there is a reason I packed rum! :rotfl: I am quite sure it's why Disney offers the DDP. Heck, in 09 we left 11 CS credits on the table (and still actually saved money believe it or not).

Oh, take a picture of you two with your mugs and Via! :)

Seattle is wonderful, so much to do here it really is a fabulous vacation spot. As is California of course!

I finally got a few pictures from my brother, his computer crashed and he lost most of his pics and all of my mom's. Who deleted her card after uploading them to his laptop. :scared1: But I do have a few worthy of posting so need to get on that mini TR. I also need to get busy on this one if I want it done before the girls trip. We've been busy bees the last 2 weeks planning.

You are under two weeks!!!!!!!!!!!! How exciting.
You are soooooooo getting a MAJOR do over at SAB next month!!

I am SOOOO excited! And having so much fun with our planning this week. Busy girls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will have to take another look at the kids menus for the CS lists. thanks for the reminder!

my pleasure! It's a little more work but if you plan you can avoid the bleh kid menus a fair amount of the time.

Well it is in the JD. Why I thought I'd get any is really the issue, I was delusional!

You have relatives there, too? To us on the East Coast, the West Coast just seems like another world. Someday I'll get to see it, I'm sure.

Visiting Aulani sounds wonderful. But I also think that adults only trips are really important sometimes, too!

And yeah, the pool bar drinks lack a certain kick. I mean, I think its actually kind of smart on their part, but come on...almost ten bucks???

I did one of the drinks you mentioned above, but I'm not saying which one till we get there in my TR! :rotfl2:

Happy Birthday to Jeff! Its my husband's actualy birthday this week, too. He's turning 40. And a giant crate in your driveway...sounds intriguing!

I know what you mean about trying to finish one report before going on the next trip! I really want to finish mine before departing for Paris!! :goodvibes I have seen that your PTR become much more busy again with everyone reporting their shopping! It sounds like such a lovely trip you are planning. :thumbsup2
