Dr. Jones and the Spitting Camel - Link to Alaska Cruise TR 9/18

Ahh... the Ditch. :cloud9: Somehow I think we shall be visiting it in May! ::yes::

One place I can tell you I will NOT be joining you is Mission Space. :scared1: Nope. Neither green nor orange for me. You are a daredevil!

How nice of you to sacrifice your Soarin FP. :goodvibes

So glad you were able to get some time in at SAB. I can almost feel how hot it was just by looking at the pictures.

Very generous of you to give up Soarin'. :thumbsup2 I'm very jealous that you got to see Off Kilter twice in the same day!

mmm that margarita looked good. i would have had one with you guys.:thumbsup2

we are the same way we dont like to waste snack credits on things like that either.

on past trips if the snack thing did not work, somehow they took our info and said they would take them off later.

which they actually did , it would show up the next day that they were off the card.:confused3

Continuing our stroll, we saw these guys! You can see the steam on my lens.
If we were hot, imagine it in kilts!!!!

cant resist..... real scotsmen wear nothing underneath so they are maybe not as hot as you think ;-)

La Cava looks amazing...I definitely need to try that.

You folks did look rather hot. I can relate.

I hope you make it to Ohana.

I bet you can, all MOIST and all. Yeah, Eric looks pretty miserable. I think we all had our top miserable moments iwth the heat over the course of the trip. That wasn't one of mine but I think it was for the E's.

I'd like to try the food in LaCava, looked like some great snacks and such!

You are making some serious headway in cranking out a great trip. I love your EPCOT day, especially a dive into the Cave. Great place, eh??

Love the Cave. Hardly spent any time there, we grabbed our drinks and ran out, so I'm really looking forward to a more leisurely visit, sans kids1

Minimal issues is always a nice bonus! I was worried there for a minute about having a cranky kid meltdown moment while you were watching Off Kilter.

Yeah, I think you can see on the E's faces that they were on the verge of that. Sandie attempted to avert it but then that created more drama.

AND YIKES, that was something I'd have very little patience with-the drink stand fiasco. I think I would have been tempted to say something. I NEVER had cash (a whole ugly story in itself for my trip), and would have had to walk away without my drink. :headache:

It was awful to be honest. I wasn't trying to have her pay for their drinks and then felt like a loser when she had to get cash off of Paul. It was stressful, the frozen ones were sitting there melting, mocking and taunting the poor kids! So you felt like it would be a dine and dash if you didn't pay but the fact that they didn't pre-inform made me see red. I told them they needed to make a sign. NOW. Poor clueless CM. I did feel bad, she was SO out of her element.

I had to pull up D-Cot and take a "Walk In the Irish Rain". Kudos on catching Off Kilter.

:thumbsup2

I might have to do that right now, it'd perk me up. I can't believe we caught them twice! Still, given the heat, even though we saw them twice we didn't see a full set so I'm looking forward to seeing them again in May. Love those guys!

I had no idea that there was an actual word for going from one AC attraction to another -- the AC Slide. :lmao: Almost mandatory in that the brutal summer heat.

Survival skills.

Jeff was a very smart man to reward you with a drink from the Cave -- giving up Soarin' FPs deserves nothing less. ;)
He was SO funny! Literally sprinting to the WS for a drink. I swear, he had that planned before he gave them up as the minute they were out of my hand he was dragging me.

Gosh, I really want to try La Cava now. And since we'll be so close, I think it would be perfect.

Even if I have to try it myself!

Oh the kids can go in there, and they do have snacks, some food, etc, I know there have been DIS meets in there. It is quite the extensive list of margaritas!

Ah yes the AC slide! I know it well. A similar action is the raindrop slide ;)
I think a visit to the Ditch it is a good consolation prize for giving up Soarin' FP.

Ah the raindrop slide. I know that dance well!

It was a perfect consolation prize.

Great update!!!!

I'm not a tequila drinker but I think I would love one of those nice cold drinks on a HOT day!

Well they do sell beer there too :rotfl: No margaritas for you huh? Fascinating!

Glad you were able to fit in a little pool time and cool off a bit.

I can't wait to hear about your meal at 'Ohana. That could be my favorite restaurant... I hope you guys make it! :goodvibes

I was so looking forward to it, none of us had ever been!

Nice afternoon in EPCOT. Ya know, you could have stuck with the "Ditch" theme and ding dong ditched the drinks! But it sounds like they were just the thing needed to cure some woes. They really do need to post the cash only thing more clearly, especially since it is so different from almost every place else in the World.

Ditching them was almost a possibility. In fact, we may well have Ditched one of the bottled ones due to a lack of cash and made folks share, I don't remember. Sandie really handled the whole thing which was probably good as Jeff or I would have gone psycho on the poor CM. You can't NOT tell folks that up front, it's just wrong. Not to mention I looked like an idiot as I'd assured Sandie they could so we didn't ask at the point of order.

It is good that you had time for a dip in the pool. Hope it was enough time for everyone. Or was is TOO much time? I'm curious to see if you make it to 'Ohana, how late and what they assess you for a penalty punishment. We got 30 minutes in a crowded lobby, no drinks in pineapple for our tardiness.

We needed to cool down, big time. No pineapple? VERY sad! I missed getting a pineapple in 09 but not at Ohana, I had dreams of some Tambu Tambu lounge before Kona and no sooner had we found a seat over there than our pager went off. Then I wimped out on the pineapple, going for something else that was just ok...

Ahh... the Ditch. :cloud9: Somehow I think we shall be visiting it in May! ::yes::

Somehow I think we will visit it more than once! We should play a predictor game...

How many visits to the Ditch versus the Slushie stand versus the Hurricane Hannah's bar (who makes a tasty margarita as well!)?

Who will win in the great May cocktail smackdown?

:rotfl:

One place I can tell you I will NOT be joining you is Mission Space. :scared1: Nope. Neither green nor orange for me. You are a daredevil!

I guess we'll leave you at the Ditch. Or the pool. :rotfl:

Have you ever done green?

How nice of you to sacrifice your Soarin FP. :goodvibes

Yeah, Eric's sweaty hat head really says it all.

Very generous of you to give up Soarin'. :thumbsup2 I'm very jealous that you got to see Off Kilter twice in the same day!

It was SO cool! In 09 we saw them as we RAN to our Teppan ADR and didn't have time to stop and really listen, we did but not even for a full song as we were running late. Sadly it was so HOT this time we still didn't hear a full set on either visit but I'd say we got 5, maybe 6 songs.

maybe someday!

That would have been SO cool if they had done that but clearly the CM at the kiosk barely work what was there so that wouldn't have even occurred to her.

I really hate using snack credits for bottled drinks, it bugs me when I KNOW there is the same darn powerade on the refillable soda machine but they were hot.

cant resist..... real scotsmen wear nothing underneath so they are maybe not as hot as you think ;-)

See that sounds even hotter. Wool on bare skin. Long sleeve black shirt. UGH! Bear in mind the men in my family all own the full regalia so I'm well aware of how hot all that stuff is! Better than the formal kilt but still!

You really did accomplish a lot considering you had a large group with varied tastes, ages and experiences in Disney. Nice work!!! :thumbsup2

The ordeal with the drinks. :headache: That CM should have helped ya out somehow...like they are on Mickey or could they take off the credits later...or something??? rather than making you scramble. Ugh! And yes, they should have notified you prior to making the drinks. Pain in the patooty!

Exactly only a little sweet and flaky and savory, the perfect snack, dessert...breakfast....I may have more than one in May!

I'm not usually a big fan of swiss which is what is used but oh was it good!
Bread makes all the difference

Sweet, flaky, savory....yes, this is a MUST. Those are all things I love in an item! Hello, apple tart! :woohoo:

And swiss is one of the few cheeses I can actually handle, so that makes me want that ham sandwich even more. You have me convinced!

It's funny as at the time I remember feeling like we didn't do that much and Sandie and Paul hadn't seen enough. When they changed their dates and decided to do part of WWOHP with us, it meant basically a park a day for them and I was feeling like they didn't get much Epcot if this ended up being their only day there. But, looking back, we did do a fair amount all things considered.

If the CM hadn't been so clearly in over her head, I'd likely have made a bigger stink but as it was I felt sorry for her. Hopefully she did make a sign!

I want an apple tart now! Eat one for me :) I hope you like them!!

:rotfl2: Just another reason why you and I should get along famously. I hardly ever carry cash either. I hate it. Its awkward, messy, and with my ADD I'm always losing track of it. I guess we better remember to store a few bucks aside for tips and housekeeping or we are going to be two loser roommates!

Great fun! Believe it or not I started to read this two nights ago and feel asleep with my lap top in my lap. Not because it was boring, because anything that involves the Ditch is never boring. Yummy. I am going to love a bartender that puts extra tequila in my drink. Yum!

Glad I am finally caught up. I've hardly DISed at all this week. I need to get going! This was a great place to start.

See that's why I have to make up mousekeeping tip envelopes ahead of time (don't worry they aren't like decorated or anything) but that way I at least have the cash and don't forget. Same thing with cab fare. Other tips well...they go on the card. :rotfl:

I do that all the time. Well not the fall asleep part but start to read a post and never finish or respond but often think I did.

I really hope that bartender is there in May!

I know where La Cava is, but are those margaritas different than the ones you can buy outside? Looks like they were. And when I saw the picture of Jeff with it outside, it dawned on me...oh, yeah, you can walk around EPCOT with a drink in your hand! :rotfl: Perhaps we shall try that next year.

I am sure your considerable knowledge of Disney had come in handy that day. I can't wait to hear about 'Ohana. We have an ADR there in, oh...about nine days!

Another fantasitc update!

Well they do sell beer there too :rotfl: No margaritas for you huh? Fascinating!

Let's just say there was a incident where someone (no names) drank a little too much tequila and was laid out in a friends front lawn for a few hours... and ever since then, I... ummm... I mean someone... can't really drink it anymore. :rolleyes1:rolleyes1

Well, they are quite a bit different than the ones at the frozen stand which are pre-made I think. these are all specialty made to order and I'm not sure if they offer them blended as well as on the rocks but at the stands it's only blended. That said, with the new Mexico CS, I know they have a pretty cool margarita menu of their own so I may have to compare all of them, including La Cantina! You can walk around anywhere BUT MK with a drink in your hand. :thumbsup2

9 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well I better get that update up before you go then!

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

You drank the worm!

I can't drink Gin.

enough said.

Oh yes, I was "off" tequilla for a while for a similar reason. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I do not drink wine... at all ... anymore

:rotfl:

I beg to differ, you had champagne on new years...that's wine! With bubbles!

You are so right, but red I avoid at all costs. Between the flashbacks of the experience and the killer headache from the sulfites.. :sad2:

I tolerate liquor so much better, usually

Headaches for you too, eh, Pat?? They ARE killer! But sometimes even whites can do it for me. Depends totally on brand by brand.
