If there is nothing on the menu your child likes, what do you do? Will they let a child sit there while the rest of the family eats. I have a SN son who is very funny about food but being 10 is classed as adult but he would be much happier with what is on offer at the counter service places. We will be on the dining plan and want to try some of the lovely places available.

At the buffets and prix fixe meals, you'll still need to pay for your son. At restaurants with a la carte menus, you'll just need to pay for what you actually order. Since your son is over 10, you shouldn't have any problems, such as those you might have heard about, which affect families with children under 10.

I agree it shouldn't be a problem. If you're on the dining plan be sure to say that you are only using a certain number of the plan though as if you order him a drink and that's all he has unless they seperate the bill off they will end up taking another meal just for a drink. Just remember to reitterate to the server its only us eating and he's just going to have a drink which we'll pay for seperately

I would say that there are *number of people* eating and one not eating. As long as he doesn't "share" with you at a buffet, it won't be a problem.

Disney has a $5 "entertainment charge" at character meals if someone is not eating. At a buffet or family style meal, you will either pay for your son or pay the entertainment charge.

At places where you order off a menu, just tell the server that he won't be ordering a meal. If you order a beverage for him, be sure to remind the server that you will pay for that OOP. At these places, he is welcome to share your food.
