OK so I was just informed that they don't provide doggie bags...SAY WHAT! I'm not giving them my yummy goodness...So, if I bring ziplock baggies and smuggle the stuff out...will there be a scene???

LOL!! The person who's overseeing the DP will start to load up the trays once things are over so you may have to be real quick and stealth.

My DP food was almost all loaded up by the time the fireworks ended.

I wonder what they do with the leftovers-just throw them out?? That's a bummer....I was planning to buy some fun "doggie bag boxes" for guests to bring some goodies back to their resorts after the DP :(

I brought some zip lock bags to our DP and to be honest - there was nothing left - our guests really picked the tables clean. We had 50 people and there was basically nothing left. I have heard of brides having tons of food left so either our guests were hungry or Disney skimped on the desserts.

I see nothing wrong with giving out zip lock bags and having guests bag things up before leaving the DP.

I did ask my sales consultant about this and she said it was fine but that they might not let you take things that would spoil. But those things are not really things you could take anyway, think little mousse cups. She said I'd have to provide the boxes / bags.

My MIL brought Ziplocs and had no problem loading them up. In fact, the server told her he was just gonna throw all of the leftovers out, so it was good she was taking them.

In the past, Disney has said you are not allowed to take leftovers, but I've never heard of this policy being enforced. The part about them not letting you take things that will spoil makes sense, though...

Got it! Stealth on the desserts. :thumbsup2

Hmmm...ok fair enough...bu we are going right from dinner to the patio for dessert...I don't think anyone is going to go away starving...

AWESOME! Who is your consultant???

The spoil thing does make sense. I'm brining ziploc baggies...my peanut butter squares aren't going bad! (they are leaving my rice krispie treats in their original bags.)

I had to laugh because it was the same way at our DP, but maybe because we had early morning Epcot weddings with earlier receptions. They even brought over leftovers from a DP that was on the Upper French Island (we were lower) and our guests at those up too! My mom had bagged up a few items for Kris and I since we were busy taking pictures, but those were the only leftovers we had from it!

Spred out events is probably the way to go...too late for that now! :rotfl: My guests will stuff their faces! :rotfl2:
Actually I told my SIL that she had to stop dieting about 4 weeks before the wedding so that she could get use to eating what ever she wanted...LOL

I brought with me the White Chinese Food Containers that I bought at The Container Store. I got the cheapest ones I could find and they worked out great.
We had no problems taking home any dessert leftovers. The CM's were soo nice!
We and our guests were able to put them in our fridges and enjoy them over the next day or so.....

mmmm......:goodvibes

My mom took food from the buffet at both our pre-reception and reception. She had gotten little containers and cake bags. My planner said that while it's not really something Disney advocates she "would not be paying attention" should someone take food off of the buffet. :rolleyes1

Good to know! Thanks

I don't understand why on earth Disney would even think they have a say in what you do with your leftovers ... I mean, you PAID for them, right? And it's not like they can use them -- they're just gonna throw them away! Why would/should it matter to them? :confused3

I fully intend to let our guests take dessert party leftovers if they want to (and there will be leftovers, since we have a small group and have to spend a lot per person to meet the venue minimum), and I don't want anyone made to feel guilty or like they have to be sneaky to take something dh and I have already paid for. I don't get it!

We had left-overs from the dp, and I had brought plain white cake bags, and then ordered some labels from www.myownlabels.com that had our names and "faith, trust & pixie dust" on them.

We never asked if we could or couldn't, just did.

I picked the bags up from one of the party stores.. party city or party depot, I can't remember which. They were plain white bags, and I have seen them at both stores, down the wedding aisle. They also have chinese food containers in a variety of colors, but the cake bags were a better price and I was already over budget (just a bit).

We just brought them with us- I think I handed them to my Mom or cousin to carry in their bag. Then, when we were closing up shop they started handing out bags to everyone.

Here is a link to another thread about this, where I posted a link of the labels we did. I ended up using myownlabels for our at-home reception too.

LOVE THE LABELS! Where did you find the cake bags? Who brought them to the DP???

It's a food safety issue. You know some crazy person will stick chicken fingers in their bag and then leave them sitting in their room and eat them three days later.

We didn't have any issues taking any of the food with us, in fact the servers were helping pack up containers. I say hand your guests containers and let them take dessert bags to go. :goodvibes

Ah...I guess that's why it doesn't make sense to me -- I don't know anyone who would be that dumb, LOL! :rotfl: But I'm sure you're right -- there'd be someone who'd do that and then blame Disney. Pretty sad when they have to think for their guests.

That's good to know that they helped pack the containers. I don't even need that -- just no side-eye if my dad wants to take a few oatmeal cookies back to his villa! :goodvibes

Thats my plan!:thumbsup2
