Hi everyone....I'm hoping someone here can help

I need a clean, inexpensive hotel close to the Bob Carr Performing Arts Center. Any Ideas ? I found a Travelodge close by but with bad reviews....has it been renovated? Thanks for your help !

There is a Marriott and sheraton near by. The downtown area is not that good,

I would suggest going out a little cause everything that is close by are more... There is a Westgate about 5 miles that is usually reasonable . Look at hotels.com and put in the address

The westgate is further down than you'd want due to traffic.

If anything I'd suggest staying in Altamonte Springs
(There is a hilton and Embassy suites )

Thanks everyone ....I had no idea downtown orlando was considered "bad" until I started reading hotel reviews....My dd has a dance competition at the arts center and was trying to get close as possible. But better safe than close !!!

Downtown isnt bad. Most downtown hotels in any city are going to be more money. The Marriott, Grand Bohemian, etc, are all fine hotels. You really dont have to worry about anything.

so would you recommend the Travelodge ? We will there 4 days so I'm trying to cut cost .....Thanks again

I would suggest looking at hotels.com. I used them to help me with location and pricing. I did book through them but went to the actual hotel's website before doing so to make sure the price was better. I found a Wingate Inn, normally $150 for $105 per night. I was happy with that. We will be down there this weekend, so I'll have to let you know exactly how the hotel is then.

No, I wouldnt recommend the Travelodge. There is a Marriott Courtyard downtown that is nice and close the Carr. When will you need them? The hotel is typically more expensive during the week, because it is a "Business" hotel, and weekends tend to be a little cheaper.

I am a bit partial to the Grand Bohemian Hotel, but thats only because they cut my pay check for 4 years:thumbsup2 It is a luxury hotel, however, so inexpensive may not be the case. There is a nice embassy suites downtown that would probably be very reasonable. In addition there is a Marriott across the street from the Bob Carr. There is a bus service downtown called Lymo that will take you to the Bob Carr, and there is a stop either right in front, or very near by the Embassy Suites. Otherwise, I wouldnt bother with the rest of the hotels....

Also note that downtown Orlando is not a "bad" area. There has been a lot of development in recent years, and a lot of money flowing into the area. I spent several years practically living downtown at my job and its a fine area....
