We are driving to WDW and arriving one night before our resort reservations begin. We would LOVE to stay in a DTD resort hotel this extra night. We want to be within walking distance of DTD. Which resort is the best and how do I get the best price??

We were looking at the DTD Hilton. (The lowest price I have found is $195 plus tax and fees.)..but we are open minded.

Suggestions???

Hmm... we are not familiar with the DTD resorts but i would reccomend going onto the off site boards for info on these hotels

We enjoyed our stay at all the DTD hotels. I would probably book the best rate......But, the DTD view from the Buena Vista Palace (or whatever its called these days), is a great choice =)

Mousesavers.com has good rates at the Royal Plaza. It's not the closest, but the rate will probably be much better than at the Hilton.

We stayed at the Hilton in 2002 using Priceline. That was a steal. We really enjoyed it there.

You might consider renting points from a DVC member to stay at Saratoga Springs Resort. It is located right at Downtown Disney. Points usually rent from $10 to $11 per pt. It would probably even save you money.

I like that idea too! Now, here's the thing...I've heard of people doing this and I've read about people doing this on here...but how in the WORLD do I find someone to rent from???:confused3

Thanks!

Look under the heading "Disney Vacation Club" on the disboards. There is a subheading DVC- Rent. There you find lots of DVC members who have points to rent.

There is also a section in here called DVC Points. There you can find the timeframe you are going and the number of points the stay will require. Friday and Saturday points are a good deal higher. The going rate is $10 --11 or so on the boards, so multiply the total number of points x the price. There is no tax, so you save some that way too.

There are various accommodations, beginning with Studios, (mini-kitchenette and living area (sofa makes out into bed), 1 BR, 2 BR, etc.

DVC Members who have points at Saratoga Springs Resort (SSR) can reserve your stay 11 months ahead of time. Any other member can reserve 7 months out. Usually SSR is not hard to get at all since it a much larger resort.

Contact someone or even post a "Wanted" reservation yourself and someone I am sure will respond to you.

Good luck!

we've stayed at the Grosvenor, rooms aren't as nice as the Hilton but the price is much less and it is directly across the street from the DTD bus stop. If I wanted to be a close walk and only one night i would start here.

after reviewing the site it appears the rooms are newly renovated, so probably much better than when we were there last. Christmas week the rate averages $129/night for the standard courtyard room, so depending on when you arrive u might find a good rate. Also I have seen these rooms on expedia.com for a good discount rate.

We stayed at the Grosvenor at DTD, the location was great. Definately walked to DTD each evening. I read that the resort has been renovated, so it should be clean and comfy.

We got the room in may/2004 with an entertainment rate for $55.00/night.

I would definatly stay there again if I could get that rate!!!
