We are going to Disney in March 2004. We are thinking of stay ing at the Doubletree Resort in downtown Disney. We were interested in a suite style hotel (2 families with 2 kids each). We had heard the transportation system to Disney was pretty good. Does anyone have any experience with this hotel? How close is it really to Downtown Disney.

Thanks in advance

I stayed at the Courtyard at DTD two christmas ago which is one hotel up from the Doubletree. The doubletree seemed to be well kept and clean. The DTD hotels are great with one exception and that is the bus service.

The buses pick up at every DTD hotel and that adds about 20 minutes on each trip to and from the parks. The buses also drop you and pick you up in the middle of the parking lots at MGM, and AK. They drop you at the TTC for magic kingdom and epcot. They never seemed to run on time and the drivers usually were non-english speaking and scared me to death they drove so recklessly. With all this said if I get a $25.00 per night rate at the courtyard will I go back and use the buses yes. If no great rates like that no way.

We stayed there in June for three nights (got a good deal with Hilton Grand Vacation Club tour). If I had a choice between staying at the Doubletree or not going, I'd stay at the Doubletree. It wasn't the most modern or up to date hotel. A bit rundown and there were stains on the carpet and furniture in the room. But the beds were adequate. The sleeper sofa was not the best, though. The breakfast buffet was pretty good and not that expensive. The staff was very nice.
