hey, does anyone know if you can eat at the restaurants at the DTD hotels without staying there and if so how do you go about it, do you just show up or do you have to make reservations?
Thank-you!:)

Yes, absolutely. The hotel restaurants are open to the public. I think the only ones that probably take reservations are the top-end restaurants in the Hilton, and maybe the Buena Vista Palace.

to be honest the particular one I was interested in is the Kook Sports Bar, which I believe is in the Buena Vista Palace. Was thinking of getting a gift certificate through restaurant.com for it,but wanted to make sure we could go there without staying there. If anyone has been to this place will I need reservations for it? I ask because I can't find hardly any info on it nor a menu or if they have a kids menu??
Thanks again!:)

It's just a regular old sports bar. I'm positive they don't take reservations. Here's a link to the menu: http://www.buenavistapalace.com/pdfs/Kook_Sports_Bar_Menu.pdf

Thanks, appreciate it...can't get the link to work,I had found it before and couldn't get it to work there either...:confused3

Dunno what to tell you. The link works fine for me!

It serves the usual bar food. Wings, nachos, burgers, other grilled sandwiches, fish & chips, etc.

The food is expensive. I'm sure the place mainly caters to convention-goers who are staying in the hotel. Burger and fries $12, dozen wings $11...

If you like sports bars have you tried the Nba restaurant at City walk?? Haven't been to the ESPN grill since they changed it, but it sure sounds good.... or the espn restaurant at Boardwalk???

LOL, it's not that I like Sports bars, was just thinking of buying a gift certificate from restaurant.com for Kook Sports Bar and was hoping the food was good and that the kids would be alright there, plus the many TV's for DH would be a plus!;)

I got a certificate for Kook's also. Not sure if I'm going now if the food is way overpriced as it would be a wash with the discount. I'll need to take a look at the menu again.

Did you plan on driving there or walking from DTD?

I don't know the prices really don't look much different then other overpriced places,lol...only thing I'm wondering is the spend at least $35 thing, I know that's how it is for the $25 gift cert.,but is it still spend at least $35 if you get the $75 one??

Yes we'd most likely just park at DTD and walk over there,we were planning to shop there anyway!;)

Rather than dealing with the usually sub-par and seriously overpriced hotel restaurants why not get the coupon (they have them) for the Ale House just outside the hotel row gate? MUCH better food, prices and a true sports bar that can please kids to adults.

Thanks Toto, that might be a better option for us. We never been to that chain. Note, it doesn't look like walking distance from WDW but we have a car.

GrumpyFamilyof5, the coupons are proportionate so if you get a $75 one then you need to spend usually at least $150 or something. It will say on the coupon.

Where do you get the coupon? I don't see them on restaurant.com. Thanks

We plan on trying the Orlando Ale House this trip. I'd love to find a coupon for them.

yup, guess it's too late for me,didn't know I was suppose to put that? I put in my address and zip, it popped up that there wasn't one in my area? Not sure what else to do, haven't got a email from them yet either and this was a few hours ago.
I don't know, I have found out some interesting things though(gotta love google, lol) there are so many places that have kids eat free days,so that may come in handy! I'd still be paying the same amount doing that as I would having to spend a certain amount with a restaraunt.com.....
we'll see, just trying to save some money this go around!

After it says there isn't one in your area, I entered 32830 and selected the closest one which is the one by DTD. You'll receive a welcome email after that. Let's see if any offers come in the next three weeks.
