Following this news on the upcoming demolition of the west side of Downtown Disney for a shmancy 4-star resort.

How will this will affect pedestrian access to the park? I typically stay on W. Katella Ave and have gotten quite used to being able to walk down Disneyland Dr and strolling into Downtown Disney.

Curious, what people think that outcome will be.

:D

I think there will definitely be significant annoyances for anyone coming in that direction. They will definitely maintain a walkway for DL hotel guests (Disneyland Hotel, Paradise Pier Hotel). If you are staying on Katella, you would probably be able to get up to PPH, and then use whatever guest walkway is provided for them. But there could be times when routes are not accessible to anyone staying off-site
