Downsides to CBR?

We are going to book the bounceback when we check into Pop in NINE days :cool1: At first we were leaning towards going deluxe next year, but now we're re-evaluating since with 2 little kids I'm not sure we're going to get enough resort relaxation time to justify the expense. I'm sure the pool at WL is nice and all, but I'm not sure how nice it'll be chasing my 2 year old around it....

anyways, we're now leaning towards CBR. Really like the theme-ing there, and seems like there are a lot of kid friendly things (sandy beach, playgrounds, boat rentals)

Other than the spead-out-edness of the resort, are there any downsides? We'd pay for a preferred room, and don't mind walking (actually both myself and the friends we'd go down with are fitness instructors, so we welcome the walking with all the food we'll be eating!)

so give me the scoop!

It depends when you are going next year. The main pool will be closed. They are installing slides at two of the quiet pools. Other than that you would have a great time at CBR.

We would be planning on late Sept/early oct...I saw the rehab info...We'd be crossing our fingers they do not go "over".

Anyone know if we'd be able to switch resorts if the rehad isn't done within the time frame Disney has stated? the pool thing could be an issue...

I haven't stayed @ CBR but we toured it when we were there 2 weeks ago. MY only major issue would have to be the bus stops..there are SO many! I kept saying "Are we done yet?" lol.

CBR is a beautiful resort. The biggest downside for me is the multiple transportation stops within the resort (7 stops). Also the fact that the order of those stops is totally random. There are 4 bus entrances to CBR and depending on where your bus is coming from dictates the order they go to those stops

For example, lets say the bus stop closest to your room is #2. The first day you head out to MK, the bus drops by, you get on, stop at one other stop, then head on to MK. That's great!! However, the next day you head out, the bus may have come in a different entrance, stop at your stop, and then stop at #3, #4, #5, #6, #7, #1, then out of the complex. That night coming home, it may enter a different entrance, and you are the last stop getting off.

The next day, stop #2 may be the last stop in their route, and the bus is full when it gets to you.

Now, that may not bother you, but it is one of my pet peeves.

Besides it being spread out like you mentioned, absolutely nothing! We loved our stay at CBR last year. We would definitely go back!!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

You're right -- there ARE a lot of bus stops, but here's a different twist on that -- we think that's an advantage, at least for us.

With so many bus stops, you're never far from a bus stop, no matter what room you're in. Sometimes you do have to ride to several other stops, but that's never bothered us -- it's just such a beautiful resort, we didn't mind!

Whatever you choose, have a great trip!

CBR is great, quiet and peaceful, things to do, kids love it, parents love it too!
Its the only place we stay at and we recommend it to anyone whose going.

We're just back from CBR and I totally agree. I would rather make an extra couple of stops on the A/C bus than walk in the hot sun to a more remote stop. When we toured POR that is what we noticed. The bus stops seemed very far away from the buildings. Going in August or early September even 100 feet can feel like a mile at the end of the day:headache:

Thinking about booking CBR for the bounce back when we go in a couple of weeks. I dont mind walking, but stairs can be a problem. We will be a party of 4 adults and 1 infant. Which room would you recomend. I want to be by a beach with water. (I know you can not swim) and a sunny hammock. Never have stayed here before so I need some advice. Thank you. Looked at alot of the pictures and love the theme.

We didn't mind the bus stops at all. Our bus stop was right near our building. All we had to do was go across a little strip of the parking lot and we were there. It was great!

The only downside that I can think of is that the layout can be a little confusing. They need better signs. My DD lost her YOMD Minnie Mouse at the Custom House or between there and the Barbados bus stop and we didn't notice it until we were on a bus. I made everyone get off at the next stop and tried to find my way back to the Custom House, and then I got totally lost even trying to find my way back to the same bus stop. I had to ask someone in a little cart which way it was. The sign said Bus Stop ->, but it led to a parking lot and the bus stop was all the way over on the right. Never did find Minnie either. :(

Also where the Custom House is a little confusing until you realize where it is in relation to Barbados and then it's not so bad. I had a problem with my DDP and got off at the wrong bus stop and tried to find my way there on foot and I was getting lost again.

Even so, I love CBR and by the end of the trip I knew my way around, so if we go again any time soon I won't have any problem getting around.
