Downpours, DIS meets, and the Dining Plan - Our Week at WDW May 16-23 Final Thoughts

Hi friend!! I'm all caught up and am sorry I haven't been around the past month. With Ally starting Kindergarten, things have been CRAZY!! I'm trying to get all caught up here on the DIS!! We're still looking at going that same week in May and I'm trying to talk my parents into going with us. They haven't been since 1982 (when they took me when I was 3)!! I want to definitely decide soon since ADR's are back to 180 days!! I'm hoping for some deals again!!
Hi girlfriend! I understand how crazy it must be. Hopefully it's settling down and you will have more time to dis. I think you should lock in the week of May22-29 and let's plan again together. :rolleyes1 (I'm not biased or anything.) This time we MUST have cameras ready and must schedule at least one meet. We have more time to work out the details. :goodvibes It would be great if you could talk your parents into it. My Mom and Aunt went with the girls and I in 2007 and we had a really great time. It's kind of cool to see your parents get tickled over your children's happiness and excitement. I have Nov. 23 already blocked in my calendar so that I can make ADR's. It's been blocked for a few weekss now....:rotfl:

Thank you SO much!! That isn't being dorky, it's called being an awesome planner!!!! Getting it delivered to concierge would be a dream. I'll call Tuesday morning and see if they do GF and if not we are going to bring some of the Betty Crocker mixes. They are actually good!! Thanks again!!:goodvibes
Sounds like a plan. Did you give them a call? Did it work out? Actually I use Betty Crocker mixes in a lot of my cakes. They are pretty good. :thumbsup2

Thanks!! Before we left I kept saying "3 glorious weeks I'll be ready to come home after that", how wrong I was!!;) I think the longer you have the more slack you are about doing things. We made a point everyday of being back at the resort by 1230 at the latest to enjoy the pool, rest, shower and back out for our dinner ADR's. By the last week all I was thinking is, good god, we haven't done this and that and other stuff:rotfl: Best holiday though I think we've ever had. Loved having the first 11 days with my sis and her family, then 9 days with just Jas and I. She missed her boyfriend terribly so she said next time we go she's not leaving him behind....the be young and in love:cloud9:

Hopefully my sister will get something posted in the next day or two because where she's at in the TR, Jasmine and I haven't arrived yet. I think I may get the pictures loaded onto photobucket today as it's back to work for me tomorrow:sad1:
Hey girl! I need to get over to your TR and see where you're at-has Queen and Jas made it to the TR yet?? Sounds like a great vacation plan. I think a lot of families would enjoy their vacations more if they took time to relax a little during the day. Sounds like we have a great TR in store for us! Can't wait to read all the details. Jas sounds so sweet about the BF. :cutie:

Just checking in, been very busy getting my mom's house packed up. Miss talking to you.

Becky, so excited to see that you are still planning on the same week!
I miss talking to you too! Hurry up and get all this moving stuff over so we can chat again okay. :goodvibes

Hi Leanne,
Great updates! The Aqua seas tour sounds excellent. I'm guessing day 5 was Wednesday and it was just a soaking wet day by afternoon. We were in MK at night and it was thunder storming and just flooded. Abyway also enjoyed your MK/AK day. Yes Joe does look embarrassed in those pics, don't blame him :goodvibes. Love your AK parade pics and the ones from Rafiki's too. We still have yet to see both of those. Happy to hear :yay: you have your trip booked!! I hope you make it to the beach this time. Are you going to stay at Poly?
Hi Nichole! How have you been? Day 5 was Wednesday and boy was that a doozy of a storm. Next trip you should check out the AK parade and Rafiki's. Thomas will probably really enjoy it (as will Kaylee). The plan right now is to stay at the Poly. Depending on the economy, we may have to downgrade but as of now I'm not planning on it. I can't wait!

I tried again Saturday to talk Danny into going back next year the same time!
:confused3
NO GO! TOO HOT AND CROWDED! so, I'm working on him for Jan 2010 at the moment (girl has gotta try) but it looks like it will be the last week of NOV, first week of DEC where they overlap...
So, ya'll need to plan a short Christmas viewing trip :rotfl2:
we are hearing the weather is wonderful and the crowds are almost non existent (for Disney standards)
:wave2:
Girl, the week before Memorial Day isn't too crowded and usually isn't too hot. If you go during the week of Memorial Day-totally different story. Keep working on him-you will be hot in LA too so what's the difference right? Maybe he will cave a little! :goodvibes December is such a crazy time but every year I say I'm gonna get down there to see the lights. One of these years it will work out. :lmao:

Hey! Leanne
just had to share this link when I read on FB that you were going to do a Minnie Mouse cake for Josie... Jen had this cake made; but you need to also see her handmade invites she made for the party; soooo cute!
Have a great day! hope you had a relaxing labor day weekend!
:wave2:

We had a great holiday weekend. How bout you? I love this cake! Thanks so much for sharing the link. I need to go back and look at the invites. Didn't see them but love new ides.

Dayne's graduation will be around the 18/20 if they ever tell us. His last day is May 12th!
Dayne wants to go for a Sr trip in May. so we are waiting to see when his graduation wll be! ** and he does not want us to be on Disney grounds while he is there**:lmao: May will just be too much for us; and we plan to go to the beach the first week of June this coming year! that is part of the agreement I have with Danny.

So, as it stands we are looking more and more at the week after Thanksgiving! so, Ashton & I can see Christmas and Danny can have his cooler and less crowded park! :lmao: just don't know what that will hold for the older kids.

But, I know ya'll will have lots of fun with Mary & Becky and ALL the little girls who are right around the same age:yay:

I would love to talk him into going the same time as Nikki and Wayne; I know Ashton would love Myles and Owen. :upsidedow

So, for now I will paln through ya'll and by the time your 8 mo pass (and it will go fast!) it will be time for me to start making ADR ressie :yay:

Hey Christie! You are so close...5 days WOW!!!! Don't be nervous about Mom. You've done your homework and it is going to be fine and hey if it isn't just head to the park, find Tigger and give him a big hug. That will make it go away. Hope you get your work done without too much trouble. This week is starting to wind down for us. I think we will head out to the Balloons, Tunes, and BBQ festival here in town. BUT the next two weeks will be crazy with party planning for Josie's b-day. Can't wait to see your TR. I'm really interested in the WDW Halloween decorations. We had a great holiday weekend-it was really redneck-the "Watermelon Festival" in T'ville, floating the creek in our john boat and playing corntoss with friends. Tons of fun. Joe says if that doesn't make me redneck, then there's no hope for gettin' rid of the Yankee in me....;) I guess a Yankee I will be....LOL.

Thanks girlie!! Needed a little reassurance!! I'm gonna try to take LOTS of pictures this time....I'm certain we aren't gonna get rained out this time!! :lmao: It's just coming sooooo fast.....just gotta get thru work tomorrow, and keep tyler and the dogs from messing up the house! :headache: I am upset that I'm only gonna get 1/2 the jaguars game on sunday before I gotta go to the airport, couldn't she have come in some other time but during the FIRST game of the season?? :confused3 Ah, it'll be alright...just ready to get the show on the road!! Have fun at the festival this weekend!! I hope it's nice weather for ya!

Hey Leanne!
I posted your two links on my thread! Hope it helps; I only have a few readers/friends that chat back and forth!

I'm pretty sure that's when we're going! I was talking about it with my mom today and they seem serious about joining us on the trip!! AND I saw that you'll be staying at the Poly?!?! So will we!!! Very cool! Yes, we'll definitely have to plan to meet up! Nov. 23--gotta mark that on my calendar but thankfully my TA will be making all of the ADRs for me!

Thanks Connie! You're the best! :goodvibes If you want to know what I'm doing every day at 3pm it's logging in to vote and calling my family to remind them to vote...:lmao:

Thanks so much Connie

I will probably book my own ADR's so I mark the calendar so I start studying at least a few weeks before. I'm such a planning nerd that I really don't need the reminder but it makes me feel better just knowing it will NEVER get past me cause my phone will go nuts until I clear it out.

How awesome that your folks are coming along! I wish my Dad was well enough to go. VA starting working with him for a scooter about two weeks ago so maybe he will be more up to it when his mobility improves. It sucks that his disabilities are service connected but they do a great job of trying to make his quality of life as good as it can be. They are putting a lift in their van, have already installed a ramp on the house, and the scooter should arrive any day now. I have my fingers crossed that he will consider going.

Hope you're having a great weekend!

Summer is such a busy time for us and I apologize to what few readers I have left for dragging this along....I'm gonna try to finish up this morning so that you can see how we spent our last day and a half.

Day 7 started with sleeping in and a trip over to Downtown Disney. Of course, it rained off and on this day too and unfortunately I didn't take a single picture of DTD. :sad1: We did a lot of shopping. Joe spent his B-day gift card buying two Grumpy shirts and a pair of the green Mickey croc flip flops. Because he had spent over $75 he bought me the tote and throw that were on special because he could get both for $10 each. It was so sweet of him ( I was especially impressed because I wasn't with him when he did this).

The girls each picked out a little something as we don't buy a lot of stuff anymore. There's really no need to go crazy because before we leave we're already thinking about the next trip. We ate at Earl of Sandwich and again we had a pretty decent lunch. After Earl's we went over to Goofy's to use up some of our 16 snack credits remaining. The girls loved it! There were plenty of goodies to keep them occupied. After Goofy's it was almost 2pm so we decided to head over to CBR and freshen up before our dinner at Chef Mickey's. I was so excited to go to CM. We'd never been so another first for us.

We took a bus over to DHS then headed over to the Contemporary. Here we got our first look at the almost finished BLT. Last year it was just a frame and somewhere I have some pics but I think they're on the external hard drive and not accessible at the moment.

Here's a pic we took

Soon we made it upstairs to CM and were given a pager. We patiently waited for the buzz. It wasn't too long and we were in. First, the food was horrible. Not only did it taste bad but it looked like it had been sitting there for ages. Second, although we did get to see the characters, they were all rushed and didn't really interact with the girls for anything more than an autograph and a picture. Not the best character meal experience in my opinion. We decided to skip this next time. Here are the pics of our time though.

After dinner, the rain had stopped and Joe suggested we head over to MK to see Wishes. We still hadn't seen it in it's entirety. :confused3 So we walked over. We had a little time before it started so we decided to ride the Astro Orbiter. Another first for us! :thumbsup2

IMG_3465.jpg

We were able to ride Buzz one more time, checked out the Carousel of Progress (a first for Joe and the girls), and then it was almost time for Wishes to start. We really wanted to see Tinkerbell fly so we found us a good spot on the bridge to Tomorrowland. We finally got to see her! :woohoo: The picture we took she looks like a green blob so we won't share but here are a few pics of the fireworks.

What a great way to end the day and last night at WDW!

After Wishes we headed back to CBR. I packed up all of our stuff with the exception of a bag to carry to DHS the next morning. At 7am the next morning, baggage services showed up to pick up our luggage. Our CM was Chris and he was great. :thumbsup2 It was sad to turn over our stuff as reality started to set in that we were going home today.

DHS was having EMH this morning so we headed to the bus stop and caught a bus over. We got there about 20 minutes before 8am. This was the morning of the not-so-EMH. They didn't actually drop the rope until 8:20 and it was a madhouse. We quickly made our way over to TSM (yep we rode it 3 times). We parked the stroller and headed to the queue. Joe took this while inside:

IMG_0413.jpg

We came out and it was coming a flood. :scared1: It was sunny when we got in line and I didn't cover the stroller. When we got to the stroller it was completely soaked.

Next we headed over to ToT. Joe and Lindsey rode then Lindsey and I rode. The ride broke down while we were on it so we got to go again. It was fun and extra scary the second time. Joe took this while we were inside.

IMG_3572.jpg

After that we decided to go find some SW characters. Joe was really excited about this. He's a total SW nut so this was really cool to him. Here are some pics of the characters we met.

By now it was sunny and it was cooking the puddles of water that lay on the pavement. It got really hot. We decided to have a Mickey bar and get out of DHS because it was crazy crowded. Here is Josie enjoying her Mickey bar...check out the cool T-shirt we found for her a few days prior...it's perfect!

IMG_3569.jpg

As we were leaving the SW parade had started. We could hardly move and that just made it more obvious that it was time to get out. We caught a bus back over to CBR and decided to let the girls have one more swim before we left. Here are some pics of our last few hours at CBR.

We had some drama at the pirate pool. Josie slid down one of the little slides and this boy came rushing down and knocked her off her feet. As she fell she bit her tongue. She had two huge holes in her tongue and her knee was bleeding too. The child nor the parent apologized. :headache: We soaked a pool towel in blood. The lifeguard gave me a red biohazard bag and we discarded the towel. For the rest of this day and the next her tongue was swollen and she fussed that it hurt to eat. We decided this was a great time to shower change into our clothes and have some lunch.

We had a really late lunch at the food court at Port Royale and it was time to head over to catch the Magical Express. Joe took these at the airport waiting for our plane.

IMG_0416.jpg

IMG_0419.jpg

Next we would board the plane and be off. Unfortunately the flight back wasn't as smooth as the flight in. The pilot came on and told us that he wouldn't be turning off the seatbelt requirement until much later in the flight and to expect it to be bumpy. I almost instantly had tears in my eyes. After about an hour and 10 minutes the seatbelt requirement was lifted. Of course both of the girls had to go to the restroom. We took care of that and no sooner did we sit down and we had to put the seatbelts back on. We landed in Nashville with no issues.

We were all starving by now so we stopped at Olive Garden for some dinner. We gained an hour on the way back so it was about 7:30pm Nashville time and we were able to get a table with no wait. We ate and headed home. The girls didn't make it 10 miles from OG and they were passed out. We got home around 9:30pm. We unloaded our stuff and hit the sack.

Up next Final Thoughts
