Downpours, DIS meets, and the Dining Plan - Our Week at WDW May 16-23 Final Thoughts

Your weekend sounds so nice. And HAPPY ANNIVERSARY:flower3:. I love Carrabas, Dale won't eat there, but Amanda and I have been and we both really like it. Dale and I got away this past weekend too( he knew I needed it). I think it is really important for couples to have some time to themselves just to reconnect. Did you get any pictures?
No pictures this time. We just hung out. I didn't even think about it. I did get a lot of pictures from this weekend. I will try to get them uploaded in the next day or so. One of the guys that works with me is big into Dockdogs. He let Lindsey handle one of his dogs this weekend. She did great. It's amazing to me how confident she is. No fear whatsoever. This was her second event. She improved her personal best by 2 ft. 2 inches.

How are you doing by the way? I've been praying for you! I hope it's getting better.

Oh how nice!! It's always great to be close to good shopping!! :thumbsup2 We did like Carrabba's!! It was my first time to eat there. We have one here in Memphis but we had never eaten there!
Hi Becky! I need to get over to your report and get caught up. The summer is so busy! :scared1:

On to the updates....

Day 4 was very, very rainy like I said before. We ate at Pizza Planet. The food was pretty good but it was a mad house in there. It was completely full. You had to wait for someone to get up from eating to get a table. There wasn't a free table upstairs, downstairs, or outside. CRAZY!

After we ate and wasted a few dollars in the claw machine we decided to go check out the Cars characters. We'd never had a character experience with them. We got over there and it was a ghosttown.

We then went and checked out Star Tours because Linds wanted to ride it and Joe being the Star Wars nut that he is wanted to ride it also. While walking over Josie fell asleep. They went for a ride and I just pushed her around store. I didn't get a single pic of anything in this area. It was just too nasty out.

Next we rode the Great Movie Ride (a nice dry relaxing ride) and then it was tiem to make our way to Ohana. On the bus ride over we met the nicest family from Toronto. It was their first trip and they were asking all kinds of questions about accommodations and the weather. This was supposed to be a trip of a lifetime but the weather wasn't cooperating. We chatted at length about the savings they could see if they came back and stayed at a moderate. They were staying at the Poly. It was fun to chat with them.

As we arrived Joe took these...

We then headed upstairs to check in. We only waited about 5 minutes to be seated. We ran into Mary and Jeff and the kids while up there. They were eating at Kona. We chatted for a few seconds and then got buzzed in.

Here is the view from our table...

We were seated only 2 tables from Becky and her family (ladybugmom). We said hi as we were walking in. The coconut races were beginning and Lindsey shot from the table. Becky and I ended up in line next to each other so we chatted some more. She is so nice and her family is so cute! Here are some pics of the races...

The food here is fantastic and they will bring as much as you can stuff into yourself. It is a great value especially on the dining plan. We really enjoyed the steak, chicken and pork. Yummy, yummy, yummy!

After that it was time to leave. It was raining buckets still so we decided to head back to CBR. We ran into Mary and Jeff as we were leaving and we walked to the the monorails together. I have to say that Mary's girls and my girls got along really, really well. My girls still talk about their new friends!

When the monorail arrived it was empty and we asked if we could ride up front. We were lucky enough to get to ride. Unfortunately only 4 could go up there because we wanted to bring Mary and crew with us. It was so cool. What a view! I'm so glad that we asked because as I understand they aren't letting families ride up front after the recent accident. This was the end of this day for us as we just headed to CBR afterwards...it was the longest, fullest bus ride ever. I thought my girls were going to explode. We made it though. I leave you with pics of of our monorail ride...

Up next...day 5 EPCOT and Seas Aqua Tour and another DIS meet!

Leanne!! I've been wondering where you were!! I've been missing you on here and on Facebook!! I know how busy the summer can get, though!! Hope all is well!
I know it has been crazy. As it gets cooler I spend more and more time on the computer though. I'm headed over to get caught up! Hope you're having a nice day!

Hi Leanne,
Glad you had a nice Anniversary weekend. We stayed at Hotel preston before when Tommy and I went to see a concert. Not sure what we are going to do for Annivesary yet but we have a few months to figure it out. Loved the update. 'Ohana is always good and fun too. Love your Poly pics and the ones from the front of the monorail. Glad you were able to do this since it looks like we might not get to anymore with the accident.

the monorail :thumbsup2(hope they bring this back)and the Poly looks like it was lots of fun...
I had read about the coconut races on Becky's report and thought about doing it at Ashton's party and than FORGOT. thanks for bringing it back up
party this weekend need to find something to that should be lots of fun

wish I could have you airmail a cake:rotfl2:
having a hard time finding what I WANT and what they can do w/o spending a small fortune on a cake...:rotfl:
doing Mickey Mouse Clubhouse--found a cake w/Mickey & Minnie surfing

Great update! Are you serious about the monorail thing? I didn't know there weren't letting you ride up front anymore--we didn't get a chance to do that! :sad2: It was great running into you at 'Ohana! We should have taken our picture together! I wasn't thinking that night--too caught up in everything I guess! Can't wait to hear more!

Jasmine and I were just discussing whether or not they would still allow people to ride up front with the pilot.....now we know!!!:thumbsup2 We consider ourselves very fortunate to have been able to do this in the past:)

I feel for you with the rain.....we were there last year when Tropical Storm Faye stalled over WDW....but on the bright side we had a wonderful first week, the storm came in the second. When we talked to people on the bus or in line, we realized how lucky we were that this wasn't our only week there:thumbsup2 I really felt for one family we were on the bus with one evening, they told us they had saved all their married life to go to WDW and it rained the entire time they were there:sad1:

Great pictures once again....we too love O'Hana:lovestruc

Great update:thumbsup2. Thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers. It is getting better, and knowing I have friends like you praying for me helps. I am trying to get into planning our September trip. I have posted the last of our July trip pix to my PTR. It just seems like going on the spur of the moment was easier than months of planning.

Hi Nichole and thanks! Has your summer been super busy too? Seems like I never have enough time in the summer. School starts in two weeks... I have all the school supplies so I just need to get new shoes and some clothes. We will probably go this weekend. Have you started any shopping yet?

I would totally airmail a cake if I thought it would work. Do you have a particular cake in mind? I might be able to talk you through how to do it on your own...just a thought. :goodvibes!

I read somewhere that out of consideration of the family and the accident they have suspended allowing families to ride up front. I didn't think to get pictures of any of my DIS meets. I totally spaced each and every time. There's always next May 22-29...:rolleyes1

Love that picture of the girls in front of the Poly waterfall.
Thanks Lessa!!!! Hope you're having a great summer! My time on the DIS has been intermittent lately.

Hi there and thanks! It was lucky that you had a nice week before the nasty week. Too bad about the family that had a completely rainy week. We still managed despite the rain but I can see how you would be so bummed if you had never been and it rained the entire time. Luckily I have gone in May the past 3 years and know that it was just a fluke. May is usually beautiful in FL. The monorail ride up front was amazing to me. You really can't imagine it unless you do it. Incredible views.

Hi girlfriend! So glad to hear you are doing a little better. I lost my sister about 8.5 years ago suddenly/unexpectedly. I can empathize. I'm so sorry Dana.:hug:

I need to get over to your PTR and catch up-definitely want to see those July pics...so much to do and so little time. Catch up with ya in a bit!

Thank you again Leanne. It is hard even though we were expecting it. But, are you really ever expecting it? She was my oldest sister. It hits hard, but I know God will see us through and I know she is with my other sister and brothers who are watching over all of us. I know that sounds elementary, but that is how I deal.

Great update, cute girlie pics. When I told A and C that you guys were planning on going back same times as we were they were very excited. Still talk about them as well.

Not elementary at all. I tell myself that Becky is watching over us -especially her nieces too.

Thanks Mary! How was your morning of freedom?

You should definitely take some classes. It's lots of fun. I'm making a cake for my Mom's b-day tomorrow and then i have to do a luau cake for a friend's daughter's 1st b-day next week. She found this really elaborate cake. I'm scared to death of it. She obviously has more faith in me than I do. You have to post a pic. I love seeing other cakes. Gives me lots of ideas. :goodvibes

Inspired by Tammy's report....

So how is everyone's summer going so far? Mine started out yucky but is turning out to be pretty good. Summer for us is so busy because not only do you have all of the fun summer stuff but Joe, me, Lindsey, Joe's Dad, and my mom all have our birthdays in the summer and of course July 10 is our anniversary.

So tell me how your summers going and also tell me when you think your next trip to WDW will be? I'm strongly considering just a long weekend at a value resort in December. It would be a quick budget trip just to see the lights. I know for sure we are going May 22-29 next year. How bout you?

oooooo! a quick trip to see the lights:thumbsup2 I'm envious...
I would love to do that; Danny would never do that:confused3 maybe when I get a job again I can plan something like that:cutie:

we will not have our return dates until ??? Danny just informed me that I can not plan another trip until we go to the beach, :rotfl:this year's is probably not happening due to unexpected medical bills

you really do not want to hear about our summer; so I'll spare ya'll
although Ashton has been having the best three weeks; turning "three" is sooo much fun :rotfl2:

so, when the summer slows down do we hear PTR:yay:

Hi Leanne,
Yes I'm pretty much done school shopping already since my kids go back on the 10th of August. They just both need some new shoes and that is about it.Summer has just flown by and been crazy busy. :yay: For going back next May and having lots of Dis friends there too! I wish we could too but with school and dance both ending that same week there is no way. Tommy and I might go for a weekend in December for our Anniversary without the kids. That might be hard for me though because I know I will feel terrible leaving them home with grandma. We want to see the Christmas decorations, MVMCP and go out to a special dinner.
