Im not sure if there was a thread for offsite Universal hotels but I was thinking of booking the doubletree this year since my usual onsites are a bit out of my budget this year and I still wanna make it down to see WWOHP this year. Way back when I used to stay at the holiday inn next door to the doubletree and that one went way downhill. it was filthy last time I was there to the point of gross and thats how I started staying onsite at Universal. Since I wasnt going to be able to go this year I started looking at prices and I can do a 5 night stay at doubletree for only $526 which would be great but Im super nervous because its been 5 years since Ive stayed at an offisite property. (Portofino was around $1700) Im not worried about lines or any of that. Just wondering whos been there recently if its a good place to try or if theres somewhere better (although I dont think theres anywhere else as close...I remember the walk across the highway well) Anyway opinions are helpful to hear and appreciated. I was also wondering what their scheduled transportation was like. I travel with my 60+ yo parents so cant always walk all teh way. Thanks for the help.

I did see the other threads but the most recent was 2008 and i was interested in the renovations and such just in case anyone gets mad at me for making a new thread

Just FYI...Country Inn and Suites is $49 per night thru 6/26. (travelzoo)

Free breakfast, free shuttle, no charge for parking

We stayed at Hyatt Place Universal last year and loved it! It is across the main road, about a 15 minute walk. They have gigantic rooms with two queen beds and a sleeper sofa, fridge, large tv, free wifi and continental breakfast. They also have a scheduled shuttle twice in the morning and twice in the evening. A cab is $5 one way.

I think it is about $79/night regular price. If we weren't renting a condo, we would be staying there again.

We are booked here for Oct 10th this year.

Are you going this year or next year?

IF I remember (or you hunt me down), I will have a review when I get back.

we are HUGE fans of the Hyatt Place hotels :thumbsup2 The only thing that knocked them out as our hotel choice was getting the Royal Pacific for 125 a night :cool1: but otherwise, HP for us all the way! With 2 teens, having the sectional couch as a 3rd bed is a huge advantage and all the room, NIIIIIICE!
