We were booked at the Cabins at Fort Wilderness for 2 separate reservations, November 25-27, 2016 and November 27-December 7, 2016. After crunching the numbers, I have cancelled the November 25-27 reservation and we are now staying 2 days at the Doubletree before we start our Fort Wilderness vacation. We will have a rental car that we are picking up at the airport and dropping off at the Doubletree desk on the 27th.

On check out day, I was thinking of having my husband drive me and our 4 kids to the Fort, drop us off to check in, then head back to the Doubletree to drop off the car. What is the best way for him to get back to the Fort? Walking to Disney Springs? Uber? Taxi? Something I am not thinking about?

I thought the Doubletree runs buses to the theme parks every half hour. If so, he could take the bus to the Magic Kingdom and catch a boat from there.

The hotel does provide transportation to the theme parks. However, it runs to the Transportation and Ticket Center for Magic Kingdom. So, he'd have to take the ferry or monorail to the main entrance to catch that boat ride.

Possible Options:
  • Taxi: Estimated cost $13.86. (See note below.)
  • Uber: No clue as I won't use any "ride sharing" service.
  • Theme Park Transfer: Take the Disney Springs Shuttle to Epcot; Transfer to bus to Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort.
  • Disney Springs Bus: Walk to the bus loop at Disney Springs (about 30 minutes walk); Transfer to bus to Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort. Important: Buses between Disney Springs and Disney resorts usually do not start until 10am.
Long Shot Option:

The Budget rental location at the DoubleTree Suites does offer pick up service. Generally, that's only offered when you are picking up a rental car. However, it's possible that they might drive him to meet you after he returns the car. Since you'll be at the hotel for a few days with the car, I'd stop by the Budget desk and ask. If you want to find out prior to arrival, here's the page for that Budget location (including phone number).
