My co-worker's 12 year old son has been sent home from school twice already this week because of double vision. He says he's looking the paper on his desk and suddenly he sees two papers. After he gets to the office, it starts going back to normal but he's left with a bad headache. I got a little freaked out when her DH called her at work on Monday and told her he'd picked up their son. I was thinking she should get it checked out right away but she didn't seem that worried about it. This is the first time it's happened to her son. Today, her husband called and said it happened again. She called the doctor's office to make an appointment and just said he needed to have his eyes checked. The appointment is for Friday afternoon.
I think if it was my son I would want it checked out immediately. I got really nervous when her husband called today but she was very calm about it. Am I missing something? Is double vision in a 12 year old a common thing? She thinks it's just eye strain but I'm worried it's something worse. Anyone have any experience with this?
