Hiya, has anyone stayed here?

We are looking at a cheapish break over Xmas, and Complete Orlando have a good offer on this hotel. I'm not bothered about 5 star, as long as its clean, more worried about location. Haven't stayed on I-Drive for many years, but whenever we did we always stayed near the Holiday Inn / Rodeway Inn area, where there were plenty of restaurants in walking distance. Can anyone who has stayed here let me know what area this is in, and whether there are a few places in walking distance (and also views on the hotel!).

Cheers!

This one?
We stayed there but its 8 years ago no problems, it got a lot of bad reveiws a while back but they have spent money on it recently. A lot of complaints recently about the nightly parking fee, The parking is $8/day and internet is $10/day unless its changed.

What dates? what price you got will have a look see if anything better if you want.

Yes that's the one! I don't know what to do really, my dad has sort of offered (he was drunkish!!) to take the family (6 adults) away for 9 nights over Christmas, ideally 23rd - 31st to fit in with work. We don't necessarily need to stay on site. I have got a quote for Pop with CO for about £7000 (flying with BA), and found same holiday for £6500 booking flights and Pop separately but I just feel I should be able to get something quite a bit cheaper than that staying off site . . . just can't seem to find anything! I don't mind staying off site as long as there are a few restaurants in walking distance! Thats my families only stipulation! That or onsite because can then use the buses!

I would not recommend it without a car, its within walking distance of Seaworld and the odd eatery but very limited, you would either need to drive or get in the trolley bus.

Seems very expensive. 6 flights with BA would be £4674. (779pp) Virgin £4392 (£732pp)

Opodo have Continental (Virgin plane) direct outbound and indirect coming home for £3389 (£564pp)

Then you would have to find accomodation, Are you having a car?
Cane Island, new resort 3 bed apartment would be £527(after Quidco)
thats 8 nights 23rd-31st (you said 9, one of is wrong for some reason:goodvibes)

How many rooms they quoting for? 3 rooms at POP =£1,872

Going for dearest(BA flights) & 3 rooms at POP (Disney.co.uk) = £6,546 (less Quidco)

Cheaper flight (direct out, indirect home) & Cane Island £3,916

Difficult looking for accomodation for someone else but theres loads out there.

Yes its for three rooms . . . its the only way!

Thanks ever so much for that Wayne - will go have a look at all of them today! Have just remembered the hotels at DTD as well (the non-disney ones) - they may be worth a look!

Sorry one more question - am discovering what a novice I am when it comes to world outside Disney!! What us Lake Buena Vista area like? Many restaurants- was looking at Holiday Inn Sunspree.

Cheers!

LBV is our fave area to stay, even prefer it to onsite, loads of places to eat like Chilis, Orlando Ale House, Sweet Tomatoes, Olive Garden, Black Angus Steakhouse, loads more but HI Sunspree is a bit further out & gets bad reviews http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_..._Resort_Lake_Buena_Vista-Orlando_Florida.html

Everyone like different things in a hotel, found a great price for the Peabody 5 star on Idrive http://www.peabodyorlando.com/ £1354 for 3 rooms but they charge $15/nt/room service fee.

Hampton Inn where we stayed at Easter gets consistantly good reviews but you really need to drive to get to places to eat, could walk but its 15 mins to Crossroads. http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_...Orlando_Lake_Buena_Vista-Orlando_Florida.html
That would be £998 for 3 rooms incl breakfast.

Thanks as ever Wayne! I think LBV is looking preferred now for location and cost! Is The Hampton Inn that you mention there? I will start looking up placed in that area!

Off to look up that Peabody price as well - would love to see the ducks!!!

The Hampton Inn is on Palm Parkway LBV but a little higher up, just past Comfort Inn, At Xmas when cooler its not a bad walk to Crossroads/LBV food and drinks but in Summer its too much. Nice hotel for the money though.

Prices I have quoted are all from Monarch.co.uk, if you decide on somewhere I will check its not cheaper anywhere else but they are quite competative just now with 5% Quidco.

we stayed at the doubletree this easter

we didn't have to pay the parking fee ... we were told it was included in our package (I booked a package holiday via Jetsave).

The rooms have been updated

we were given an upgrade to a room with a fridge/wet bar etc

there were 3 pools i think, this was the nearest to our block

the only other picture I have is of the deli/pizza place

it is a large hotel .... there were about 14 blocks plus a tower. you can walk to seaworld, and there is a Village Inn across the road, but for everything else you'd need a car, although it is on the itrolley route.
