Will be going to disney end of August. I have a "turning 5" on the trip daughter and a 3 year old son. Obviously a stroller is a must. I'm thinking about a double stroller, but I'm concerned about the width. My DH wants to bring two umbrella style strollers, but I'm worried about what I'm going to do when he and our 10 year old son venture off to do a "big kid" thing. Anyone found any concerns with double strollers??

I got this stroller. We've had it for about 5 years now. THE BEST. For many reasons.

When you fold it up it stands up on its wheels. That alone is the best selling feature. Riding on buses is a breeze.

I has all the features of a "big" stroller. But only weighs like 20 lb. It has a shoulder strap so you can carry it when its folded like you would carry a tote bag.

It has proven to be very durable. And even though it has smaller wheels it hasn't been a problem for me to navigate uneven surfaces.

We are just finishing up a week at disney and we rental a double stroller from a company that delivers to the hotel... You will hate it getting on and off busses and trying to get though some other areas (train to Rafiki at AK, and down certain walkways, and in and out of hotel rooms). But you will love it all other times... Ours actually fit three with one sitting on the footrest... We have 1,2,4,6,8,12,13 so the younger 4 would switch in and out... It's really important if your planning to spend the whole day in the park...

When we went in 2012 I rented the city mini double.
It was awesome. I didn't feel like it was "too wide", it fit through standard door ways and folded up easy for the buses. I will rent one again for our next trip in 2015 for sure.

I hate pushing an empty stroller, and had the same concerns about what to do with 2 umbrellas if DH and ODD went off by themselves.
So the double was a must for me.

I plan to rent from https://kingdomstrollers.com/

The connector is great if your kids are teeny...like under a year but if they are. ginger than that then the connector gets hard to use. I'd go with a dedicated double. Parks are hard on little ones. Lots of walking and hustle and bustle.

It's like a broken record around here, but the city mini double is an amazing stroller. It's not too wide to fit through doors, folds quickly and I don't think it's too big a deal to take on the busses. Great sunshades & reclines, etc.

We have rented a double city mini and loved it so much we bought one for home. I don't think it is too wide to fit through doors. It can be cumbersome on the bus but folds and "stores" much better than other double strollers of a similar size.

City mini double or valco snap dual. The valco is a little lighter and has an easier to access basket. I'm looking forward to using ours this fall.

Take or rent a double. The situation you described is the exact reason we always too the double. I liked to have both kids in one place and be able to push them both at the same time. Plus, frankly, umbrella strollers are comfy to sit in and uncomfy to push. :) Doubles are a pain on the bus but honestly, all strollers are a pain on the bus!

I love the city mini double, and it is a lot better than joining two singles, because the connectors would make two singles too wide for a regular door way.

And I would never ever again buy a combi stroller unless you have super tiny kids, those are a pain to push with a kid in, in any case, any Maclaren will handle a lot better.

I would not use umbrella strollers at WDW. Unless you are petite the handles tend to be short, and it becomes uncomfortable to push them around.

You could always rent a single stroller with a board on the back. Orlando Strollers rents those.

My kids have gone sans stroller for a while. The last last trip we took a stroller on was when the twins were 4. (They didn't need one after that…although we walk a lot as a family, so that may be why). We brought our Peg Perego Piko 3 on that last trip, which is a single stroller but has a step on the back. They each took turns riding in it and standing. It was easier than a double. When they were three at Disney we took our double Mac stroller. Both have their positives and negatives and you may decide you need a double but having a single wide stroller is really nice when you have to fold it on the bus, want to get around people, or just want to walk though the stores in Epcot. Having a double makes that much harder. Just my personal; from someone who was forced to have a double stroller for almost 8 years straight! (Thanks to my first two being born 14 months apart and having twins the third time around!) :)

I have a sit & stand. We have been taking it for years. It's the front/back kind. it's great since it's not wide so it travels through the crowd faster & easier to go through doorways that the double side doesn't fit through. It has a deep storage under it to hold all our junk & purchases. the only thing about it is going uphill. But no carriage is fun going up some of those Disney hills.
Good luck on finding one you like.

I have never used these, but have seen others use them and thought they were so neat. They would work if you were left with the two single strollers. http://www.amazon.com/Prince-Lionheart-6550-Stroller-Connectors/dp/B000056J23

We used these on our last trip to Disney. We had larger umbrella strollers that had the carrying place underneath. We used them a few times and they came in handy. My girls were 3 and 1 at the time, though they are both in 98percentile for height and weight so we usually run 1 to 1.5 years ahead in size. I felt they worked pretty well. I'm not sure we had the Lionheart ones or the others. Got them at Babies R Us for liek $10. It was nice to know we had the option.

Is it a graco one??

Is it a graco one??

I also use our baby trend sit n stand and it works out great, has good storage underneath, 2 sunshades & plenty of cup holdlders! When our oldest is on the back standing it can get a little heavy to push up a hill, but that's what DH is for, lol!!

The rare instances there isn't someone to push the second stroller does not justify the hassle a double stroller creates in my opinion. I can push two city micro (a little smaller then the city mini) strollers myself... I push one and pull the other. With a little practice, this isn't a problem at all. I find this preferable to using a double stroller..

speaking from experience double strollers are life savers.!!! you will not regret doing it.

I rent from Orlando Strollers and we rent a City Mini double. I had no problems getting in and out of doors (even the hotel room) and it was easy to fold to get on the buses. They recline all the way back and have good hoods for shade.
