Double strollers at WDW?

Going to WDW in 2 weeks. I have 2 and 6 yo DD's. We have a stroller that is meant for a younger child to sit in the front and an older child to sit or stand in the back. We use it a lot when we go to other amusement parks and it seems to work well except it is very heavy and sometimes hard to manuever with both kids in it. Should we bring it to WDW or should I just bring a small single stroller since I know my 6 yo is way to old to be in a stroller anyway and she should just be walking.

I would bring it. We've used a double stroller for our 2 and five year old. Sometimes it's nice to have a place to sit down. It's a lot of walking in one day approx 7 to 10 miles a day. And in the heat, it's nice to have somewhere for them to relax and nap if needed.

I've found that it's helped with tired, heat tantrums!!

It's a lot of walking for little legs. I would bring a stroller for them, but I would be wary of a double stroller. We did not take ours for our 3 and 4 year old. We used two umbrella strollers and those really did well. They were easy and very quick to fold down for the buses, we could fold them down when we took them in a couple of places, and they didn't take up a lot of room. We watched many families with larger strollers have a hard time with folding them down on the buses and such. If you aren't planning on taking any of the buses, the double may be a great option for you.

Just back from WDW with our two kids. DD is 5 and walked everything. We asked her before we went is she wanted a stroller, and she said no.

You know your kids best.

We went to WDW in Jan. with then 6 year old ds- he walked the whole time. We talked about it before we went and he was absolutely against a stroller- he 'is not a baby' according to him. Still, I was prepared to rent a stroller- they are bigger and I think better for older kids- but he never once asked for one. He complained the first night about his legs hurting, but never again after that. We were in the parks for 6 days from opening till night shows were over- sometimes using morning extra magic hours. So we spent a LOT of time in the parks and walking. It just depends on your child. You might want to take it just in case.

I'd take it, just in case.

If you want, try to make the first day without it. You may not need the double, just the single. I'd rather bring it and have it decorate your room, rather than need it and not have it.

Another thing to keep in mind when it comes to little legs and WDW is the time of year you are going. If it's going to be hot and humid, like summer months, (compared to a cooler month such as January); I would definitely consider bringing the stroller or be open to the option of renting one. The heat and humidity tend to make us more tired faster. :goodvibes

We have a sit and stand stroller and I will be bringing it for my 7 and 4 year olds. We have a system so that whoever is riding in the back part knows to exit quickly so that I can manuever the stroller. (It is really a goofy system but I say a code word and whoever is in the back hops out and starts walking while holding on to the side of the stroller.) This started out as a joke but now it actually works well so we keep using it!:)

The 7 year old is too big for a stroller in most situations but at WDW, there is no way that he is going to make it walking all over plus walking back to the room at the resort.

He will mostly walk because he will want to but he will have the option of sitting when we have a long walking stretch, waiting for a parade, etc...

Remember that you will need to fold and carry your stroller if you use WDW transportation, including parking lot trams and some of the boats. The main ferry from TTC to MK permits open strollers with children in them, but many of the smaller boats can't accommodate them.

Depending on how you DD6 does, you might want to consider renting a stroller for her at EPCOT if you're covering it in one day. That's a lot of walking for anyone! *LOL*
