Double Stroller

This our first trip with a cumbersome double stroller. We are driving into MK, and remember it being challenging to ride on the tram between the parking lot and ferry/monorail even with a single stroller. Any recommendations to make this as easy as possible with a double, 2 babies and two adults?(we do not want to rent a stroller in the park).

Practice folding up the stroller.

Or, you can elect to walk from your car to the TTC instead of taking the tram. If you arrive early enough (pre-RD), your walk won't be that far.

I think that you don't have to fold up the stroller on the ferry ride, but you will be asked to fold it up on the monorail if it's busy. And definitely on the parking tram.

Definitely practice folding the stroller. Try to keep the stuff you stow in the bottom of it in bags, so that you can pull them out when you fold (most strollers won't fold with stuff in the bottom).

We elected to purchase a Citi Mini double from Baby Jogger (aka the same type that Orlando Stroller rentals uses). They aren't cheap, but we figured that a light (for a double) stroller that handled well and was easy to fold would be worth it... and it was. I won't pretend that getting on to and off of busses is fun with it, but I can't imagine trying to do so with a heavy, bulky stroller.

That stroller is about to go on its third WDW trip, and has seen four years of action (currently have kids aged six, four, and two). I cannot recommend it enough.

Thanks! Great suggestion on keeping stuff in a bag, because you know that undercarriage will be full. :). We have a Bumbleride, and it's actually pretty lightweight as far as doubles go (I just consider all doubles cumbersome. Lol).

I've moved this thread to the Disney for Families board. :)

We always make sure everything is in a bag too... this year I had the brilliant idea to not only put everything on a bag, but make sure the bag was easy to carry. I clipped a "mommy hook" onto the bag and clipped multiple bags together so there was just one action of taking things out. (each kid got a little toy in a disney bag) When we got out of the tram, we just clipped the mommy hook onto the handle bar until we got through bag check, then restuffed everything into the stroller.
This August they did check our stroller baskets for the first time, but it was every day for 2 weeks.

For the tram, if nobody is using the handicapped seats that was the only door that we could actually get the stroller into without the second person's help. DH and I usually each held one of our sons- I could lift the stroller up myself and it fit between the seats in that row only.
The other rows I needed somebody to help lift the stroller and then it didn't fit on the floor between seats so it had to sort of balance on the edge of the seat and took up it's own spot. One tram driver yelled at me to fold up the stroller before realizing that it was folded it just wasn't fitting.

The biggest tip is to ignore if anybody glares at you, they are likely just having a bad morning and haven't paused to think about the fact that you are struggling with the stroller and doing your best. They will get over it once you and your kids are safely loaded.

We are locals (who go often) and have two small children. We have learned to just walk to the monorail/ferry instead of trying to fold it and get everyone on and comfy. It is FAR too much work for such an easy walk. We usually end up beating everyone on the tram as well if they pull up when we get there.

Our other option is to take our hotel's complimentary shuttle to Epcot (that's the only park they go to) and just hop on the monorail there to MK. Not sure if this will be too time consuming though, especially with 2 little ones.

I would just walk and not use the tram (unless you are really far back). We only have a single stroller (city mini) and one child and I still find it easier to just walk instead of dealing with the folded stroller and bags. IMO the tram is more difficult than it used to be because of the added doors. They don't leave much space to climb up, they are heavy and want to close on you.
