Double resi/ADR question.

I dont' see anything wrong with double booking. Maybe you just can't quite decide at that moment. Cancel the extras in advance and someone will be able to pick up the Adr you cancelled. No big deal. Or maybe a walk-up will get a surprise of an opening.

Or maybe nobody bothers trying to walk-up because they know it is supposed to be fully booked and then tables end up empty - which Disney obviously doesn't want. Some months, the ADR no-show rates avg around 30%. You can't tell me that many people are having emergencies and that's why they are not showing up. It's likely many have another ADR (or two) at the same time somewhere else, resulting in too many empty tables.

Combined the two double booked ADR threads that were floating around in the top five posts so we can keep all discussion about this in one place.

There are lots of rumors floating around about what will be, there is more information about all of the rumors on the first page of this thread.

On the day we fly in, we're using ME to get to the PoP. I REALLY want to do Ohana that night, as we've never been. But I have no idea if the connecting flight will be delayed or if we'll experience delays with ME. Our flight is scheduled to arrive at 4:25pm. Right now I have 2 adrs at Ohana, one for 7 and one for 8:10, 2pp each. What should I do? I don't want to cancel the wrong one and then be out in the cold because we get there too outside our adr window due to delays or twiddling our thumbs starving and tired. I feel guilty that I still have both, but I just want it to work out. Opinions? Thanks. :confused3

Keep the later one, cancel the early one. The odds are not good that you will make the early one if you are relying on DME and Disney transportation. Remember you can't travel directly from Pop to the Polynesian either, unless you spring for a taxi.

It's also been noted that when CMs take it upon themselves to cancel double booked reservations, they generally cancel BOTH reservations, without notice to the guest. There's even been stories about ALL of a guest's reservations being cancelled.

HA! That explains it. I thought I was going crazy. Which, still could be true of course! :rotfl2:

Keep the later one

Even if your flight arrives on time, you probably won't be on the ME bus until 4:40 at the earliest. It most likely won't leave right away either, unless you are very lucky. And then you may not be the first resort that the bus drops off at either. So your guestimated time of arrival at the Pop should be around 6:00 at the earliest. That leaves an hour to get checked in, drop off your stuff at the room, and get to the Poly. Less than that if do what Disney suggests and show up for your ADR 20 minutes before the scheduled time.

Cancel the earlier ADR and keep the later one. Even if you have a bit of time to kill, the Poly is a great place to do that at. It is one of my favorite resorts to just shop and look around.

Thanks Maxiesmom,
this response, along with the others was most helpful, and I feel so much better now. I am going to take everyone's advice and cancel the 7pm ressie; also, that way I won't stress over rushing!! :worship:
