Double or Single Stroller

I have a 5 yr old and 3 yr old (both very tall for their age). I'm definitely renting a stroller(s), but is it easier to have a single stroller or double stroller? Both of them together probably weigh 85-90 pounds.

I'd say double because one person can push rather than needing two with a single. Plus one less stroller you have to find in stroller parking. Of course it depends on what strollers you're choosing from as well. We take a single and a double maclaren with three young children and even the double folds small and is easy to carry. If I had a massive double stroller like some I've seen compared to two lightweight umbrellas I might change my mind.

I'm leaning towards just 1 single stroller for our next trip. Half the time, my 2yo wants to walk. And pushing the double city mini with my 5yo is hard! I have to adjust for the unbalanced weight. We are not planning full park days. If we were, I'd still bring the double.

We are renting a stroller as we don't use one at home. Is there a better kind to get that's light weight/folds easy?

My husband thinks my five year old can walk the entire day and that we should just rent a single stroller for my three year old. She never uses a stroller at home/running errands but she isn't walking 8-12 miles every day either!

If you plan to stay in the parks and leave at the same time, I would take singles. We used Combi Urban singles for our older kids (both 8yo now) when they were younger--made splitting up for diaper changes/restroom breaks easier, we could roll single strollers up to tables at hotel food courts, strollers tri-folded and weighed 10 lbs for easy use on buses, etc. Now we have two more kids (4yo & 3yo) so we take a double because DH returns to the room in the afternoon while the 8yos and I stay out late, so a double is easier for him to handle on his own.

Most of the outside rentals are City Mini. On the light side (not like an umbrella stroller), and folds up quickly. Or you can get the ones in the parks. The single there could probably fit 2 in a pinch. Not sure how easy it is to push.
