Okay, I WAS reading about every 2 days, because the pace of the board seemed to be going okay for me to catch up quickly. Needless to say, I haven't checked in a week because last week was so busy, and I had 6 pages to catch up on. Whew!

:dance3: Happy Birthday, Erik, E, and Scoobypop! :dance3: :cake: party: :bday: :jester:

Thank you, it was a nice day!

Has anyone done the Dolphin Encounter before? I see there are 2 of them but my 3 yr old would only be able to do the one in Cozumel. My then 3 year old son and 10 year old daughter would LOVE IT. I did read that the water may be too deep for the 3 yr old.........

Any advice is appreciated ! :)

Thanks!
We did the dolphin encounter in Anguilla (part of the St. Maarten stop on the Eastern Caribbean) It is a VERY controlled experience. Not so much free swimming with dolphins--you are in a life vest, and the water, while it may be deep in some areas, where you stand during the actual encounter itself, was not very deep. You're sort of on a ledge in the water. Although truthfully I don't know about 3 year olds and how high they are these days. Of course, it may be different somewhere else. We had a really nice time--something we'd always wanted to do. In fact, when we go to WDW in November we're spending a day at Discovery Cove to do another one there, and meet up with a few friends we met from the Transatlantic Cruise who work there. It was fun--probably more controlled than Rob and I would have liked, but fun if you like animals and dolphins and such.

Yes, but do you have a 3 ring binder???? Asked because ScoobyPop's otehr half (Robert) does. I am very much a planner myself, but yegads--a binder! We all wanted him to offer a vacation planning siminar on the last cruise. Perhaps he can run it this time around:rotfl2:

.

Yep, he does a good job, and makes a new one for every trip!

Hmm Im gonna have to sign up for ScoobyPop's (Robert) other half's seminar.. wonder if it can be between the Wine and beer tasting... hmm probably better during the Java Meet huh LOL :rotfl:
I love those! And since we will be at the beer AND wine tastings, we will have to compare!

Hadley and Erik--I think Erik already knows, but put us on the lanyard team if you haven't already. Thanks!

Everything else is well, just winding down a busy summer in Vegas. Gearing up for our WDW trip in Nov. We got so into the door magnets from the Transatlantic, that we have made magnets for every day of the WDW trip to hang on our refrigerator!

Good Morning:)

Chris--fridge magnets for WDW?!:rotfl: And yes you are way at the top of my list of lanard team people. Thank you;)

Erica--Dave is so gonna love that wedding cake martini:thumbsup2

Dave and family--Welcome!

Busy week comming up. Glasses are ordered and I have about a 50/50 chance of them arriving in time for the trip. In the next four days we have to: pack, go to auditions for Pippin (read throughs tonight and vocals tomorrow), get Marika to two karate classes and one belt test (in another town), return a mountain of library books, get my nails done (okay I could skip this--but I want to do this one sooooo much), stop by the district offices which open today and turn in our homeschooling paperwork for the year, drop off Girl Scout paperwork to people who did not make it to the leader's meeting last night and pick up all kinds of info on the area in prepartion for my playing corporate wife Friday. I also will be spending all day Friday showing the area to the wife of someone Dave is interviewing and wants to move out here, then have dinner with the couple Friday night. And yet here I am glued to the DIS. YOu guys are all so much better than "reality" (meaning I know you are real as well--just less demanding and way cooler than the rest of my life).

Dave and Family = Welcome!!!

Soooo... yeah. I didn't get a chance to experiment. DH turned on the Peter Gabriel concert DVD and proved to me I cannot resist the allure of Peter Gabriel in a hamster ball. :rotfl: The only time I was able to tear myself away was when I ran away from "Sledgehammer" and then I just checked on the sleeping babygirl and came right back to see Peter in a flashlight coat.

So maybe Peter Gabriel is an artist after all, and maybe DH is right that Peter gives a great concert. I still never want to hear "Sledgehammer" again. *pthooey* *wry grin* And Genesis was a good band after Peter left, for the record!

I'll try again tonight. Let's see what DH has up his sleeves then! ;) I may have to get -him- intoxicated so he'll watch the remaining Netflix ("P.S") that definitely qualifies as a chick flick. Since watching "Meeting Joe Black" with him (where all the men in the auditorium stood and CHEERED when Brad Pitt was hit by semis not once, but twice in the first 5 minutes of the movie), I'm a little gunshy of sharing -my- movies with him. He did ok on "When Harry Met Sally" and "Murphy's Romance", but he was drunk. He can't do "The Quiet Man" or "Fiddler on the Roof" and Lord help me if he hears "Camelot" on the tv. He starts intentionally warbling off-key. :headache:

:rotfl:
Have a great day, everyone! Hadley, I hope luck is with you this week with all your errands.

I saw that movie P.S.. I loved that movie. Laura Linney is great. And that one scene, well, it was interesting!

Yeah, that one scene is downright yummy.... *mmmm*

Or are you talking about the mean scene? *yeouch* And then he paints it later for his exhibit?

Not the mean scene. :scared1:

Who says there has to be nudity in movies to be, um, yummy?:confused3

I need to record that next time it comes on. I think it is a keeper.

I think they made that scene appropriately. I definitely think of Topher as yummy enough to go on a poster, without being uncomfortable with the exposure. Just enough, not too much.

I liked 'Meeting Joe Black'. Thought it was a very interesting movie, if a bit long. Of course, I also enjoyed 'Devil's Advocate' & 'Independence Day'. :thumbsup2

Honestly, I don't remember much of "Meeting Joe Black." Just the scene with the semis.

I like "Independence Day" a lot.

Well, I just bought some cruise stuff!:cool1:

Rite Aid (or the old Eckard) Drug store has their summer clearance going on to the tune of 75% off.

I got some things for the house and 2 snorkels with masks for $3.75 a set, each! And an inflatable water mattress for $.75. I figure with 2 visits to CC, they will come in handy!

They also had bubbles, balloons for water fights (I love those!), sand buckets with shovels, beach towels..........

I can't unglue from Eureka long enough to go mix a drink... Pretty sad...

anewmac, victoria will be 9 and isabella will be 5 at cruise time, this is our second cruise but first with the kids and can't wait. our last cruise had a medium size dis board meet but this one appears it could be much larger

sorry if this question has been asked already , but with us being the first cruise out of dry dock in 08,has anyone heard if they are adding anything new to the ship. no worries, our cruise on the wonder last year was the first out of dry dock and it was great and really clean. they were still doing some minor construction to the spa area but did not affect trip experience at all.

It's great question, actually. I haven't seen any rumors or truths floating around on the DISboards.

I haven't read these in a long time, but I did bookmark some threads related to dry docking. I don't think you'll find any interesting scoop, but it may be worth the read or worth bringing back to life. :)

Does anyone have info on whether or not our itinerary is likely to change due to the damage Costa Maya sustained from Dean? I've read different places that it will take at least 1 year to repair the pier there. Anyone care to speculate if it will actually be done in time for our cruise? If it isn't, what port would we dock at instead?

IMO, I think it will be ready in 13 months. I know there's an awful lot to accomplish on the island, and we all know that they depend on tourism for their boosting their economy. Thus, they'll certainly want to bring the cruisers back as soon as possible.

So if we were say 8 months away, I would be shocked if we were still anticipating Costa Maya in our plans. Equally, I would be extremely surprised if they would go ahead and make a decision for our cruise this far away.

Any other insights?

I've got a cruise in 8 months, but it's a Western (Grand Cayman and Cozumel). I'm just waiting and watching. I don't care too much because it's 8 months away and I'll be on a Disney ship! :dance3:

Wait, hold on... I am holding off on buying airfare until later on, just in case of any port changes between here and there.
