A word of advise for anyone who is using ME, double check your reservations!! We are leaving in 6 days, and have yet to receive our luggage tags. There was a reply to a thread here yesterday that stated you could check your reservations at the Disney site, which I did, but it was having difficulties finding our ressie, so the site advised us to call Disney direct. I contacted MS today, only to find out, they had our ressies for JULY, instead of June, even tho' my confirmation email, which I got after I made the ressies online shows June. The CM couldn't explain why they were showing for July, (but that explains why we don't have our tags), and won't get our tags (the CM was very adamant about that - I can't believe there isn't a way for them to FedEx them to us - they made the mistake, not us!). I aksed her to check all the other ressies we have to be sure nothing else was messed up. So, now, we have been advised to collect our luggage and take it over to the ME desk. This is really upsetting me, we are bringing 4 people who have never been to Disney before, and I've been going on about the great Disney service, and how we won't have to deal with luggage (especially since we're going to have a couple of little ones in our group) now I get to tell everyone "Never mind". I was hoping the luggage tags would be a great souvenier for the others. Oh well, I'm done ranting now. Thanks for listening, and check your ressies!!!!!!

You do NOT NOT NOT need to collect your luggage and bring it to the counter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Simply go directly to the DME counter. Give the CM your luggage tag numbers, plus they will show you photographs of pretty much every piece of luggage known to mankind (okay, maybe that's an exaggeration :)). DME will then locate your luggage and transport it from the airport to your Resort. You do NOT have to claim your own luggage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, one suggestion - to make it even easier for the DME personnel to locate your bags, you might want to tie or wind around it some REALLY noticeable ribbon, and bring a piece of the ribbon to the DME counter. Okay, one more suggestion - if you have a digital camera, take a picture of your luggage so you can show it to the CM for even easier identification. But again, PLEASE don't waste your time waiting for and hauling your own bags. As far as I know, if you bring them to the DME counter, you have to bring them to the bus where the driver will place them underneath (in a compartment).

Another one here saying check your ressies for ME---We just got our packet today and they were short 2 people---We have 7 people going but only received tags and vouchers for 5 people!
When I called they tried saying it was no big deal because we already had 2 tags for 5 people and kids only use 1 bag so just use one of the other persons tags so I said well thats all well and good their luggage will be on the bus but how are we supposed to get them on the bus without the voucher----They're supposed to call me back.

Call ME directly . Thats all MS or CRO is going to do .Thats why it might be ok on the WEB-SIGHT and not through ME directly they are 2 totally different systems ran by 2 different divisions.

As Kaytieeldr Stated take them your tags and because you know you have to do this take a picture of you luggage and how many you have to make it easier as well.

They will do a manuel pull on them instead of the auto from the ME tags but it really is no big deal either way.

A few things to note.....as far as wanting to get your DME packet quickly, you have to realize that the orders have to go to a printer, then to the customer. I made reservations last summer, 6 days before my trip. I knew there was no way I was going to get those tags. Sorry if they messed up your info....that starts your trip off on a not so great note. I would plan to do as someone else has suggested...put something really 'out there' on each piece of luggage, something that will quickly catch the eye. Take a picture of it if you can, otherwise, take a piece of the ribbon/fabric with you. then give it to the DME checkin person, with your baggage claim numbers. You should be fine.

Now, as to not enough luggage tags....sure, you can use anyone else's that are in the packet. I'm sure all 5 of those people with the correct tags aren't going to be taking two pieces of luggage. So, spread it out.
As far as the actual vouchers go....I'm assuming that everyone is correctly listed on the reservation. If not, get it corrected right away. If everyone is listed, even though they didn't get a voucher, they can get a voucher at the welcome/checkin desk. Not a problem.

Nothing is perfect. We should take matters into our own hands and double check everything. There is such a huge volume doing business here, with Disney and DME, that mistakes are bound to happen. I know, easy for me to say...I'm not the one with the problem/mistakes!!! I don't mean to downplay any of your situations, just try to explain some solutions for you all.

As many of the others have replied to you, Disneylovers, you really have nothing to worry about. As explained, they have a system in place to deal with all of this.

I used DME when it first started, and there were problems getting the DME packets (which include the tags) out in time. We got ours the day before we left, so we were well prepared to do without. I was confident it was going to work whether we had the tags or not.

My wife bought some orange ribbon with purple polka dots that was just about as obnxoius and loud as anything this side of an H.R. Pufnstuf rerun marathon. We tied a length of ribbon to each checked bag, and we already had a swatch of the ribbon in withour travel documents, so we'd have it to show them at the DME desk. Well, since we got our tags just in time, we could have taken those darn ribbons off, but we didn't. To make things worse, she also decided to put them on all the carry-ons, too, since she said it would help us not misidentify them.

Anyway, you'll be just fine. And so will your checked luggage. Trust us here at the DIS -- SKIP BAGGAGE CLAIM. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME GOING THERE.

Have fun at WDW!!!

If you did not get enough vouchers and baggage tags in time ME will not leave your kids behind. ME going to Disney is never sold out, the worst is that all 7 of you would be put on the next bus that leaves the airport about a half hour later.

But do make sure your ME reservation back home lists everyone. Check this at least a day before checkout.

Thanks everyone for the reassurance. After I wrote my tirade, I ran out to the fabric store. I am now in the process of makng my own luggage tags, out of multi-colored yarn cross stitched in Mickey heads (I have WAY too much time on my hands! No, actually, it's my diversion so that I don't smack something!!) They should be bright enough for them to recognize. I'm making an extra one so I can show it to the CM when we check in. It just upsets me that after making these ressies in March, it gets to 6 days out to find out things are messed up. I can't understand why they don't have 'extra' packets on hand that they could print off the vouchers, and get to me in time. If they dropped it in the mail, it would be here by Saturday, (or Fed Ex it and guarantee it would be here). All the info was in their computer, just off by a month. When I told my family, they suggested I contact MS again tomorrow and see if I get a different CM, who may give me a different answer, but I figure it will be too late, so instead I'm taking matters into my own hands, and making my own luggage tags. I'll show them!! In all seriousness, I'm worried that this is an omen of how the trip is going to go, which is not making me any calmer. O.K., back to my cross stitching.
