Dork Wars Episode II: The Revenge of Joaquin - Nov. 12 / Jul. 13 PTR *UPDATE 6/30*

So if some of you haven't read my July 2011 trip report, I'm going to give you a good introduction to Joaquin. I adore him, he is my crazy crazy nephew, and he's just so much fun to hang around with. So, I figured I would give you a run down of his kid-isms from our last trip, and some incites into him.

Kid-ism: A statement a child makes at a random time. At times philosophical or insightful.

An example: Yesterday, we had dinner out with the family. Here is Joaquin drinking his water with a spoon (we're weird....get used to it).

So my Dad says:

"I am sick and tired of this phone being tied to my hip".

Joaquin looks at my Dad and says:

"You're tired of being a hippo?!"

Yup, that's my nephew.

He is going to be five years old this December. Man, the time has really flown by. I can't believe it. He's super smart. Like too smart for his own good. He's in preschool, but was moved into Kindergarten because he's very clever. But he knows he's clever too and he uses it to his advantage. His new favorite thing to ask people?

"Can I punch you in the face?"

You may think that's an exaggeration. It's not. He really asks you that.

Now understand, Jason, my brother, is like that. And Joaquin picks up on EVERYTHING we say and do. Other things he says:

"Dude"

"For real?"

"Seriously?!"

(Those three? Yeah, he gets those from me. I mean, you know that, I use them on my TR's! :rotfl2:)

We went to WDW in July of 2011, and he was 3 1/2 years old. I just want to share some of the best photos of that trip and some of his most insightful statements.

Kid-ism: "We don't want to cwash into 'dose buiwdings, wight?!" (On the plane, as we descend)

See...he knows he's cute.

Deuces. (Which is also one of his favorite things)

Kid-ism: "You jacked me right in the face!"

Kid-ism: "But we have to follow my map, and it only has a Magic Kingdom on it!"

Our sickness is a little spreading....

Kid-ism: "The scuba diver smashed up Nemo!!!!!"

And I'll leave you with this one. Because that's how we roll! Thanks for indulging me, I just love him so much!

I am so going to beat you this time :thumbsup2:rotfl:.

I promise I will try to go on TOT......

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.....

Oh, I'm sorry, you just said something REALLY funny. :p

I will keep you to that promise to try to go on ToT.

I agree with you on having to ride TSM at least twice in the morning. I don't think I could go on it just once. But that's also because my frist game is my warm-up round. The second time is where I pull out all the stops. :rotfl:
I have a feeling there's 2 opinions on TSMM. You either think it's "okay" or you're like us and take it extremely seriously. :rotfl2:

Your July TR with Joaquin was actually the first report of yours I've read, and I remember going, "This kid is awesome." So I'm sure your next trip with him will have even more kid-isms and great photos. ::yes::

Joaquin sounds like such a hoot! Now I have a question... if someone said yes when he asked if he could punch them in the face, would he? :rotfl:

Totally! You can't just ride TSM one time. It's just not worth it in my opinion. There have been times when I've only been able to ride it once, but that's driven typically out of the crowd levels.

Hahaha, everyone fell in love with him on that trip. He's pretty cool, even though I might be a little bit biased. I plan on taking a lot more video, because there's a lot more from him if you can catch him in action.

Yes....yes he would punch you in the face if you told him yes. :rotfl:

Yeah, Joaquin is back! Those kid-isms were by far the most epic and insightful things I've ever heard. So excited/ready for part dos/deux of Joaquin! I can still remember the video of him passing out in Cosmic Ray's or wherever it was. :lmao:

Hahahaha, I was going to post that video, but I totally forgot! That was a Cosmic Ray's, good memory. He is still completely insightful. The stuff he says sometimes just kills me.

It was hilarious yesterday at dinner. Joaquin comes up with some winners for sure. I am very excited for our family trip to WDW in July.

It was funny. He's such a little dork. :rotfl2:

I'm excited too. Once I finish up the plans for our November trip we can start talking about the July trip.

Just a little update for you guys. This will be heavy on words and not on pictures, so I apologize for that.

I finished week 3 of the C25K program this week, so Monday starts week 4. My calf had a little bit of pain at the beginning of the week (lower calf area, close to my achilles tendon). I purchased a brace for that area and I'm going to buy some compression socks. However, the pain went away after resting it for 3 days without running, so everything seems okay with it. My brother Jason (who is a certified personal trainer), said that he thinks it's possible my achilles tendon is short, which is causing the stretching action. I'm keeping an eye on it, but so far everything seems okay.

Saturday, I had to take my Mom to the eye Doctor. She had floaters in her eye and was concerned. It's a good thing we took her because she had a retinal tear. Immediately after the Doctor, they called the on call Retinal Specialist because she needed the procedure immediately. They wanted to move quickly because my Mom's vision is 20/20 (she only uses reading glasses), and they didn't want to risk and vision damage.

She's home know and doing well. She cannot lay down because the gas that they inject has to be able to do it's work on the tear and laying down can counteract that.

However..............you can't fly after a retina procedure.

They say you need 4-6 weeks for the gas to dissolve. During this time you can't fly.

Our trip is almost EXACTLY 4 weeks away. Which is a huge bummer if the gas doesn't dissolve! :guilty: Because Mom will not be able to go on this trip that she is so looking forward to if that happens.

My Dad can always go in her place, which is the plan we'll use if this ends up happening. Fortunately, our flight down is on Southwest, so we'll only have to pay a change fee on the American flight.

In the meantime, I'm staying optimistic about it. We just have to wait and see what the Doctor says on her follow ups to advise how she's feeling. We had thought about driving, but that's just not something we can do. I have no other time off available to take and it takes us 18 hours to get there driving straight through.

So, any positive thoughts and prayers in my Mom's direction would be greatly appreciated. She could use it and this would suck if she can't go. I'm really trying to be hopeful.

I wanted to let all of you know to please be aware of your body and to please get checked when you feel anything out of the ordinary. I never thought that floaters were something to worry about, even on the internet they tell you that it is not very serious. Please, Please go and get checked if you have floaters it may be more serious.....

I am also hoping to get the OK from the doctor to be able to fly in a month. If not then my husband will be able to go in my place.

Praying for your mom that everything clears up quickly and she can go on your trip with you! :goodvibes :thumbsup2

Jenn thank you so much for the prayers. I am thinking positive and hopeful that I will be able to fly. I have a follow up tomorrow and will check to see if the doctor can give me an idea already how my eye is healing. Danielle and I will keep everyone posted.

I'm so glad that I pushed the issue with you going also, because the end result of not going would be even worse. I'm being hopeful you get the okay to fly in a month too. I'm staying positive until the last moment.

Thanks Jen. I'm staying optimistic.

Just keep swimming and stay positive. Everything will be okay.

Hi Danielle - just saw you had this PTR going while I was over commenting on your DLRP TR! You're a busy girl!!

You are kicking *** on that C25k! I did it too, and now running a 5k is no problem (I've done it FOUR TIMES in the past 8 days, including this morning!). I'm not fast, but I typically do hills while running it so I get a higher calorie burn. And I'm getting faster! Just keep going; clearly you have the will and you'll see even bigger changes!! You're looking GREAT; the changes are very noticeable!

I was so sorry to read about your mom; she DEFINITELY needs the vacation!! I'll say a prayer and cross my fingers that she'll be good to go for your trip; what a bummer if she can't go. :( Especially being at BW!

Your trip with Joaquin is going to be a blast, though. You guys have some great kid-friendly resorts on that trip; they are going to be in HEAVEN!
